Strange messages

April 20, 2008 by Tricia

Over the last month or two, every time I talked about our bad weather (remember that huge snow storm we had here in Toronto at the end of March?), and my desire to get away from it all for a vacation on one of my other blogs someone came along and left me a message. The message always suggest that I visit check out one of the Outer Banks rentals if I needed to get away.

It was kind of strange. It was always the same person and they weren’t even leaving a link to a vacation rental site. So I’m not certain that it was a spam message. Perhaps the person really thought I’d have a great time visiting the Outer Banks?

Certainly I get enough spammy comments on each of blogs day in and day out. Those get marked as spam so those people won’t end up being able to bother other WordPress bloggers once Akismet gets there number.

Do you get strange comments on your sites that make you wonder what the persons getting at?

Do follow update

April 19, 2008 by Tricia

If your site is listed on my DoFollow blogroll please go and read the post I just made on Tricia’s Musings.

I’m currently going over the list and weeding out sites that don’t appear to be dofollow sites. So if you are on the list and believe your site is dofollow just take a moment to check that it really is, especially if you recently changed your theme or added new plugins or other add ons to your site as they could interfere with your sites ability to dofollow.

Thanks!

Lashblast mascara handle too big!

April 2, 2008 by Tricia

Last April I purchased several new domains that I planned on starting new blogs on. Well, a couple of the domains were for current blogs that I wanted to move to their own domain, but I still haven’t made the move because the blogs are doing well where they are.

Unfortunately I didn’t really get to work on the new domains until recently. I had done some posts on them, but it was very sporadic. Lately though I’ve been starting to work on the new blogs regularly and I’m quite happy with how they’re turning out.

One of the blogs is a shopping blog. I talk about everything from products for the home to fashion trends, interesting gadgets and of course the occasional discussion about cosmetics.

In order to stay current I’ve been surfing shopping related sites, magazine websites and I’ve subscribed to a few new magazines.

If you have a niche blog do you subscribe to websites or magazines that are related to your sites topic?

I’ve actually really gotten into the site and I think once I’m ready to reveal it to my regular readers that you’ll like it too.

I’ve even gone so far as to purchase some of the items that I talk about. No I’m not purchasing anything that we won’t use in our home. So far the type of things that I’ve purchased were mainly cosmetics. Hey, I needed to replace some of my makeup anyway so I might as well try some of the new products like mineral makeup right?

So far I’ve been pleased with all of the products I’ve tried. My only disappointment so far has been Cover Girl’s Lashblast mascara. Oh the mascara and the big wide brush are pretty good. My lashes looked great, but the mascara did flake a bit. It’s the handle on the brush that’s the real disappointment!

It’s so big it’s hard to hold, especially when you’re trying to gently apply mascara to your inner eyelashes. The first time I tried using the mascara I actually poked myself in the eye twice when the brush handle slipped from my fingers. It’s just too big and too slippery.

Don’t think I’m a newbie at applying makeup either. I’m actually a makeup artist! I haven’t used my experience on others much recently (side tracked with a career in nursing).

I think the next time I try using this mascara I’ll wrap an elastic band around the brush handle to give myself a better grip. I certainly don’t want to poke my eye again!

Have you tried Cover Girl’s Lashblast mascara yet? What did you think of it?

Tired of hearing about celebrity problems

January 27, 2008 by Tricia

I haven’t been writing in my celebrity blog very much lately. Why? Well for a while there it seemed that just about every star was battling some kind of drug or alcohol addiction or was checking into drug rehab. I simply got sick of writing about it!

Now that a whole crop of new stars are pregnant and or have just given birth perhaps it’s a sign that things are changing on the celeb scene a bit? Maybe I’ll start writing in my blog Celebrity Scoop a little bit more. Actually I hope to start writing about more of the fashion trend and hot items that the stars are buying. Purses, shoes, the latest clothing and try to find comparable products that we, the common people, can afford. Wish me luck?

November 14, 2007 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

Heather, Chris and Crystal

My husbands quite a character as a lot of bloggers found out when we were in Vegas this past week. Above is a photo of him Schmoozing it up with Heather from Beautiful BC and her daughter Crystal.

As if that weren’t enough he got real close and in your face with Heather

Chris and Heather

And then flirted with her daughter Crystal too!

Chris gets fresh with Crystal

What a guy!

Oh and in case your wondering – he’s like this all the time! He’s quite a character to live with!

I seem to have a number of photos of Heather with two drinks in her hands. Must have been a tough flight. Perhaps she was de-stressing? πŸ™‚

You can see more photos from my trip to Vegas at Flickr.
