I just gave myself a virtual makeover

If you’re tired of wearing the same make up that you have for years or if you think it’s time to try a different hairstyle or perhaps try a different hair color you’ve got to visit this Virtual Makeover site.

I’ve spent the last half hour trying all the different options and having a great time!

The Virtual Makeover site allows you to upload a photo of yourself and try out different hair styles, hair colors and highlights, hair lengths, a whole slew of cosmetics such as lipstick, lip gloss, lipliner, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, and nail polish. Heck you can even see how you would look if your teeth were whiter!

You can sign up for a free account or you can pay for a membership that would give you access to the full line of services and options for anywhere from 3 months to 12 months. Just to give you an example a 12 month membership is only $29.95 which comes to only $2.49 per month.

Since I was just checking out the site I tried the virtual makeover using a free account. I couldn’t upload my own photo with the free account, but I found a photo of a lady who had similar features and experimented with that.

I have wavy short hair now so I tried a few different looks with medium and long hair, and then I tried out a few different lipsticks – changing the lip shape too as I went. Then I moved on to eye shadow, liner and mascara as well as blush.

I found a look that I liked with medium wavy dark blond hair so I then went to the accessory area to try on hats, jewelry and sunglasses.

If I had a membership and was able to upload my own photo I’d probably still be on the site trying things out. It was fun.

Oh and when you are trying the various cosmetics the site tells you what the product line is and the exact name of the color that you are trying so if you were to find something that you really liked you’d be able to purchase it the next time you were out shopping.

The Amazing Wine club delivers premium wines each month to members

In the last few years my husband and I have really started to enjoy wine. Not that we drink wine all that often, but we’ve developed a new appreciation for it.

I hate to say this, but when we first started seeing each other, if we drank wine, the only wine we’d try were white wines! We just didn’t enjoy red wine. At least we had that in common. Ah! I’m going to be a Great Aunt!

I recently learned that my oldest niece is going to have a baby! I’m so excited for her.

I was talking with my brother on the phone the other night and he was telling me all about his daughter and how she was doing and then added that his wife was really excited.

Huh? Sounds like my brother is too if you ask me.

We haven’t had a young baby in the family for quite a while. I’m still working on producing one myself … Ha now won’t that be funny if I ever do manage to get pregnant? My great niece or nephew will be older than their 2nd cousin? Sounds like the way I grew up since I was the last of a long line of kids and my parents had me when they were older.

I’ve already been thinking of what to get my niece and new niece or nephew when the baby arrives. Of course some plush animals are a must. Funny, I just remembered that when my niece was born the plush animal that I bought her turned out to be her favorite for many years. I wonder if I can do it again with her child?

The baby is due in February so I have some time to find just the right kind of gifts. Any ideas? I haven’t purchased anything for a new mother and new born for a while. What’s hot right now? Hmmm I wonder if she’d like one of those baby slings … hmmm

Window shopping

My husband took yesterday off because he had to have a doctors appointment. Normally he wouldn’t do that, but he really needed to see the doctor about something so he got someone to cover his shift at work.

After his doctors appointment we voted in the Ontario Provincial election. Yes it’s that time of year again when those of us from Ontario must vote for a new provincial leader. As it turns out it looks like the same politician will be running things for another four years. Ah … but that’s another story for another time.

After we did our civic duty by voting we decided to go grocery shopping. Believe it or not, since I’ve been so sick lately Chris has been doing all the shopping. He does ok, but he always forgets something and he needs a few lessons in how to pick ripe fruit. Put it this way – I was tired of him bringing home plums that were too hard to eat and had no hope of ripening!

So we went grocery shopping and also visited a home store while we were out.

I didn’t buy anything at the home store, but I did have a good look around. I’m always trying to get new ideas for our home since we are in the midst of major renovations. I can’t wait until all of our projects are finished so that I can decorate!

I like looking at everything from wall hangings and picture frames to Murray Feiss light fixtures, throw blankets and side tables and so on and so on … You see, I think I know how I want to decorate the living room and dining room when we are finished renovating, but I like to re-enforce my ideas when I’m in a store that sells furnishings and accessories for the home.
