New watches for all

January 26, 2008 by Tricia

Chris and I got new watches last week. His watch had died a few days before – or at least we thought it had since it didn’t work after he’d replaced the battery, and my main watch was on it’s 3rd watch band and frankly I was getting sick of replacing the band. So we went out watch shopping.

We ended up looking for new watches in a department store. It has a good selection with watches made by Timex, Bell and Ross, Swatch, Roots, Cardinal, and a lot of designer names too.

I ended up getting a womans Ironman Timex watch. It has a build in rubber or rubberish? watch band that feels really comfortable. Chris got a Cardinal stainless steel Chrono watch.

Funny thing is that just a day or two ago when our puppy saw Chris’ old watch on the telephone table and jumped up to try to grab it we noticed that it was working again! Ha .. isn’t that a strange co-incidence? Oh well, the way Chris loses things it’s probably good that he’s got two watches now.

I have a plan to save money on our home renovations

January 20, 2008 by Tricia

I was just saying on my other blog that Chris and I spent some time talking today about our various renovation projects .. the stalled ones that need finishing and future projects.

I didn’t mention that we might be able to get some really good prices on any materials that we need such as tile for the shower or other renovation and finishing products, furniture, electronics and more. We were contacted by DirectBuy a week or so ago, and we’re considering getting a membership.

It’s a member only club that offers merchandise at manufacture direct prices. The savings are huge! Since we have a lot of renovations to do, and then of course we’ll need to redecorate … well … it would be nice to save as much money as we can right? I think it would be worth it.

Are any of you members of DirectBuy?

Deep freeze in Toronto

January 19, 2008 by Tricia

I’m my last post I was talking about how rude people kept blocking the sidewalk as I tried to walk to my doctors office the other day.

When I got home the running shoes I’d been wearing were caked in mud. Not only did the rude people tick me off because they blocked the sidewalk but they also gave me a clean up job to do!

I’d been wearing my running shoes since it was above zero that day and it felt fairly nice out for a winter day in January.

Now that we’re in a deep freeze again it’s time to pull out my sheepskin boots. I’ve got to stay warm! Tonight it’s going down to -16 Celsius. That’s 3.2 F .. and that’s darn cold!

I think I might pull out my puffy winter coat too. It’s a short coat, like a ski jacket but it’s stuffed full of microfiber and no other coat I’ve owned has been warmer!

Rent or buy powered access platforms

January 18, 2008 by Tricia

If you’re in an industry within the UK where you need to occasionally use Access platforms you should take a look at Panther Platform Rentals services.

Panther Platform rentals have been in business since 1978 and they’ve established themselves as one of the UK’s leaders in powered access platforms with over 50 branches throughout the UK. Their experienced staff can assist you with any questions regarding their Powered access platforms.

Among the many services offered by Panther Platform Rentals are the ability to purchase new and used machines, Platform hire including the services of a platform operator if needed, personal protection equipment, service and maintenance of rented machines and customers machines, damage waiver, theft and loss waiver and IPAF training.

Certainly renting power access equipment when your company needs it will save your business quite a bit of money when you compare the cost of purchasing, storing and maintaining equipment that is only used occasionally.

You might also save money by purchasing used equipment from Panther Platform Rentals. The cost of well maintained used equipment is substantially lower than brand new equipment.

You can contact a representative at Panther Platform Rentals to discuss your companies needs. Their staff is fully trained and will be able to discuss the various powered access platforms and other machinery available.

New Holiday – Family Day

January 16, 2008 by Tricia

Time seems to be flying by so fast lately. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been so busy with family and our little puppy over the last few months?

I can’t believe that the holidays are already over! Well … last years holidays are over, this years are just beginning. Valentines is coming up in less than a month. I guess I’ll have to start thinking about what kind of valentines day gifts to get Chris this year.

I’ll probably get Chris something guitar related since he’s been looking at new equiptment lately.

I’m not sure if this is happening in the US, but here in Ontario, Canada we’re getting a new statutory holiday this year. It’s called Family Day and I believe it falls on February 18th. I know there’s been a lot of petitions in the last several years for a holiday during the long winter months and it looks like we finally got one. That means we’ve got a government recognized holiday in almost every month of the year now.
