Finally going to meet my great-niece

I’m so excited. Not this weekend, but the next my family is going to have a little get together. Just the ones that live in the Toronto area that is.

My Niece had a baby in February and can you believe that I haven’t even met her baby yet? Yeah … sad isn’t it? I can’t believe it. But all of that will change next week. We’ll be getting together with my sister and her two kids, my brother and his wife and their two kids which includes my niece and her new baby.

I’ll finally get to see little S. I think I might get the baby a gift. I showered my niece with about five presents at her baby shower, but that was back in January, I’m sure she needs a few more things for the baby by now. I don’t know whether to get some toys for the baby or something more practical like baby bedding as I’m sure that’s always needed!

Any suggestions from the Moms out there? What types of things did you find you needed when your baby was 6 to 7 months old? Keep in mind that my niece took in a fantastic haul at her baby shower … so she might not really need anything in particular.





Working on new sites

I haven’t been feeling very well over the last few days, but as I’ve felt up to it I’ve been trying to work on some of my new sites.

One of my new sites is a home and garden related blog. I’ve already got a gardening blog where I try to mostly write about garden related topics but I’ve found over the last year that more and more home decor and home reno posts have made their way there so that’s why I created a new blog. The new blog will likely have more home than garden topics.

Another new site that I’m working on is shopping related. There I’ll talk about the latest fashion and make up styles, plus I’ll do posts about home decor, furnishings, appliances and give tips on how to get things done in and around the home so much easier.

I’m sure there’ll be lots of posts of interest between the two blogs and I hope that you’ll come to visit them when I’m ready to reveal their urls. No, don’t worry – the posts won’t be just wrinkle cream reviews although I expect when I talk about cosmetics I will discuss some skin creams. There should be quite a variety of topics and I’m sure that you’ll like the sites.

Then there are sections such as Home Decor, Just for Her, Bath and body, fountains, Candles and Scents, Americana, Just for Him, Kitchen and household and for the family as well as a few others.

I found several items that I really liked. Ones that I’d use in my own home or be more than happy to give as gifts. I’m sure you’ll find a few items you can use too!

Oh and looking through the catalogs is very much like looking through a real catalog. The advantage of course is that you can click on any item that grabs your interest and get more information about it. I really did find that the site was easy to use.

Trying to decide on a gift for Chris

I’m trying to think of what to get Chris for Christmas.

The way we’ve been spending money what with our trip to Vegas, buying a puppy – the training crate for her, 3 sets of vet bills in two weeks since she’s sick, toys and so on, plus the car windows motor broke the other day so that was another expensive bill … oh and the DLP TV needed an expensive new light bulb last week … I’m just not sure whether we should even exchange gifts at all. BTW the expenses I just mentioned above are several thousand dollars worth all in just a months time!

I mean, we’ve got to get gifts for family members, but we don’t really need anything and the puppy is like a Christmas gift for both of us.

If I were going to get Chris a gift I thought about maybe getting him a new watch. His current watch is nice enough and still works but it would be nice to get him a dressy watch. I can’t afford any of the beautiful IWC watches, but if I could find another brand that was similar I think it would be a gift that he would appreciate.

What do you think? Is the puppy enough of a gift for the two of us? I think she is. We have pretty much everything else we need and want.

Stay warm this winter in a plush robe

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about waking up each morning is getting up and putting on my bathrobe and relaxing with a cup of coffee.

These days the house is kind of chilly in the morning. Especially upstairs. So the faster I can get that robe on when I get up the better.
