Why Has Red Hair Become So Popular?

November 11, 2013 by Tricia

If there’s been one trend in hair fashion that’s been growing bigger and bigger, it’s having red hair. Thousands of women, and even men too, have been dying their hair colour to a much brighter shade of red and even the red heads have been wearing their natural hair colour proudly. Red is the new black, or so it seems.

But why is it that so many people have been replacing their blonde and brown dyes for the red shades? What is it about red hair that makes it so fashionable right now? There are many reasons and some maybe not as obvious as you might think.

Red Hot Style

The most glaringly obvious reason why so many people are going red is the influence of celebrities.Rhianna With Red Hair Famous people are taste makers and trend setters and their adoring fans follow in their footsteps to try and achieve just a little bit of their glamorous look for themselves. Attractive and influential actresses and musicians have dyed their hair red or shown off their natural colour, inspiring women to do the same. Rihanna, Hayley Williams, Emma Stone – these are just a few names from a long list of ladies that have shown red hair can be fabulous. These women appear in style magazines and on blogs where their gorgeous red hair is seen by millions and the line of the publications is that red is the hottest colour right now, so you should follow suit.

There may be more subtle and psychological reasons though why red has grown to be such a beloved colour. The colour red in itself signifies many different things. One thing it signifies is heat. The colour red gives the impression of warmth and hotness, and it has this same effect when applied to hair. Red hair makes you look sexy and appealing with the warmth of the colour subtly letting everyone know you’re an attractive person. Red can also signify fire and red hair can let everyone know you have a fiery personality, in both the negative and positive sense. Fiery red can make you appear confident and assured of yourself, giving you a boost of self-esteem.

The Red Attraction

Rhianna With Red HairPeople are naturally drawn to the colour red for all kinds of reasons, and it’s something many of us can’t help because it’s instinctual. Bright red grabs your attention. Red can signify danger or harm as blood is red, so is fire, and anything red in the animal kingdom can be poisonous. The colour red has been used in advertising, for signs and in propaganda. One of the most popular colours on flags and in team sports is red, purely because it makes them stand out. The same can be said for red hair – bright red draws the attention of onlookers more so than plain shades like brown or black.

The increasing sea of red heads might have something to do with the exclusivity of it though. Apart from ginger or reddish brown hair, bright red isn’t a natural colour. This means that those with red hair are special and possess an uncommon look. It’s slightly rebellious to have bright red hair as many people aren’t daring enough to tamper with their natural hair colour. Being different is also a highly valued quality, especially when so many people look the same and are expected to conform.

When you think about it carefully, it’s not surprising red has become such a popular hair colour. Red is highly fashionable, it’s a sign of confidence and of a fiery personality. It’s unique and it makes you stand out from the crowd. Red most certainly is the new black and its highly fashionable style will probably grow even more popular as time goes on. So the next time you decide to reinvent your hairstyle, perhaps you’ll consider the colour red for all the reasons listed above.

Stylish Manicures: A Fashion Addiction

October 2, 2013 by Tricia

Sailor NailsFashion is something which can often be defined as a trend but for some people it could be easily classed as an addiction. People love changing the way they dress and look according to the changes of fashion styles and trends. After all, it’s difficult to feel confident when we don’t have any confidence or pride in what we’re wearing.

Nail art is something that has exploded in recent years, and is one of the few fashion trends that revolves around individuality and an individual’s own creativity rather than copying styles seen elsewhere. There is the growing question as to why fashioning your nails is so addictive, especially as it is less noticeable in comparison to other parts of the body.

What Different Methods Of Nail Art Are Used Now?

When it comes to switching up your nails, there are a seemingly limitless number of ways to do this, and more methods being thought up all the time.

Unlike styling your hair, doing nail art is a skill that’s easy to pick up yourself, which prevents the need for going to expensive salons and spending money that’s unnecessary. Not to mention the nail art supplies to make them with are affordable enough for someone to have a varied collection.

The most loved ways of glamming up nails are:

  • Wraps – These are one of the most simplistic ways of adding patterns to your nails that are complex to the point that they’re difficult to do by hand. They are usually stuck onto the nail and filed around so that they look natural.
  • Foils – The same principal as wrap, only they won’t come with a sticky underside so you’ll need to glue them on yourself.
  • 3D Metal, Acrylic, Stud Appliques – When it comes to 3D nail art, there’s no doubting how much love they get by both models and celebrities for them luxurious look. Whilst it’s acceptable to wear them on every nail, the look loved most at the moment has only nail per hand for a subtle enhancement.
  • Stickers – Whilst nail art stickers may work under a similar principal as foils and wraps, they are used on a section rather than the whole nail, and usually come in creative lace and chain looking designs.
  • Glitter – In the past people have preferred to use glittered nail polish, nail art glitter is star wrapssomething that makes the process a lot more controllable and comes in a number of different colours and styles.
  • Crystals – Perhaps one of the most desirable looks to create are those with Swarovski crystals, these luxurious gems that are usually worn by those with privileged income and actually very affordable and give you a look that’s difficult to recreate anywhere else.

Nail art in general is an easy hobby to take up and get good at, and if you learn all the tricks of the trade it can also be a great way of making a little extra money on the side. Those who love enhancing their nails will appreciate the extra boost in confidence this can give you, and the satisfaction in knowing you’ve created it yourself and it’s long lasting.

How To Find The Best Contemporary Jewellery In 2013

August 25, 2013 by Trish

Jewellery represents some of the most desirable and inspirational accessories that any of us can wear. Although vintage and antique jewellery is currently enjoying a huge surge in popularity, it hasn’t eaten into the contemporary jewellery market at all. More shops than ever before are stocking jewelry as an incremental sales driver, even if they aren’t fashion retailers!

How can you find the best jewellery this year, and what are the most iconic styles?

Fashion Shows and Exhibitions

Fashion shows are always exciting events in their own right, but can take on a unique appearance when they’re focusing on jewellery.

Such shows command the attention of anyone in attendance. This is particularly the case if the jewellery being showcased is small and you have to see it up close to appreciate it.

While these shows prove popular, traditional exhibitions where jewellery is displayed in cabinets and made available for sale are also growing, especially as people seek out alternative pieces so they look different from those who shop on the high street.

Wedding Events

The summer season is the wedding season, and jewellery is a must for any modern bride. Truth be told, grooms are getting in on the action, too, and not just when it comes to their wedding ring!

Even if you’re not getting married in the future, however, wedding shows are a lot more diverse now than they have ever been before. As well as showing off the latest dresses, venues, and themes, they’re a lot more dialed in to the details that matter, and jewellery is definitely one of those.

These are both great ideas for discovering jewellery throughout 2013. What are the top styles you should be looking out for at fashion events, at the shops, and in glossy magazines?

Cultural Jewellery

When we think about the role of jewellery in global culture, our first thought is probably going to be towards glamorous Bollywood movies or Asian weddings, which are always glitzy affairs with bride, groom, and all the guests decked out in jewellery and luxurious attire.

Although such jewellery has strong connections to its origins owing to culture and religion, it is able to pass seamlessly to Western fashion and can regularly be found in shops or being worn by popular celebrities.

Movie Star Jewellery

Speaking of celebrities, movie star inspired jewellery is a huge opportunity for anyone involved with the market in 2013. More than ever before, people desire to look like their favourite film star, musician, and socialite.

Old school, Audrey Hepburn inspired pearl necklaces, or contemporary pieces from the likes of Tiffany & Co, are all excellent options for anyone who wants to build themselves a celebrity look. The only problem with such styles is that so many people are looking to follow them!

How to Negotiate Jewellery

While jewellery is attractive enough to inspire you to make an instant purchase decision, the reality is that the best way to choose jewellery is with your whole appearance in mind. Whatever the style, and wherever you encounter it, ensure that you’re thinking about your ‘total package,’ rather than how good a particular necklace, bracelet, or set of earrings might be.

Snow Globes – Not Just For Christmas

May 29, 2013 by Trish

Snow globes are making waves in home décor. From fun and kitschy mementos to beautiful centre pieces, you can easily tailor this new craze to fit your tastes. The good news is snow globes aren’t just great Christmas present, but can be used as ornaments in your home all year round. Here are some fresh takes on the traditional snow globe that are easy to incorporate into your house no matter what you taste, style or budget.

Create a Visual Travel Diary

Many tourist areas sell branded snow globes as mementos of your vacation. Collecting one from each of your visits will not only allow you to remember the good times you had on that holiday but also create a quirky collection to show off in your home.

This is also a great reminder for the whole family of all the places you’ve visited together, especially when placed alongside framed snapshots of your travels.

Display Your Family Photos

Many companies have cottoned on to the growing snow globe trend, and are coming up with inventive new ways to integrate them into your home decoration. One of the most popular new uses for snow globes is as a unique photo frame. Many designs allow you to place a photograph of your choice in a waterproof compartment within the snow globe. These are available reasonably cheap on the high street and are useful not only as decorations for your home, but as gifts for friends or loved ones.

Get Creative

If arts and crafts are your thing, consider making your own snow globe and personalising it to your tastes. There are many online resources and blogs to help you build your own snow globe, using materials that can easily be purchased on the high street. Making your own snow globe is not only cost effective but allows you to express your own creativity in a variety of ways.

There are many inventive and playful ways of creating a snow globe of your own, including infusing the water with the liquid from a glow stick, which makes perfect decoration for parties, or children’s bedrooms.

Shop Around

If crafting isn’t your thing, or you are looking for a fun take on the traditional Christmas snow globe, there are many stores which offer personalised snow globes without you having to get your hands dirty. Many companies offer a diverse range of snow globes decorated to fit your taste. These range from traditional Christmas scenes to iconic foreign landmarks. Purchasing a snow globe online doesn’t have to make it any less personalised or sentimental, and it can still be aesthetically pleasing in your home. Whether you want your name printed on the outside, or a secret compartment containing a card to your family underneath, there is a company out there for you.

How To Pay Less For The Same Products

May 15, 2013 by Trish

Having the financial freedom to buy whatever you like is a great thing but the reality is that most of us have to compromise to some degree on the purchases we can make. This could mean cutting down in terms of the quantity we purchase or perhaps a compromise in quality and in some cases we may even have to do without altogether. If it is a product that you need then you may even need to consider asking for financial help such as pay day loans to help you afford the purchase. If you shop wisely, however, you may find that you don’t have to compromise after all as you could find the same goods at a more affordable price.

Buy Wholesale

From the manufacturer to the shop where you buy your goods there is a distribution chain and in behind every link of that chain is a person or a business that wants to make some money. This of course means that the more links there are in the chain before you make your purchase, the more you are going to pay. By going to a wholesaler instead of a supermarket or local shop you get to reduce the number of mark-ups that have been added to the product meaning you get to buy it cheaper.

When you do buy through a wholesaler it is likely that you will be expected to buy in bulk so it may not always be suitable. If you are buying bottled goods that will last for a long time, for example, then buying wholesale could be a great idea. Buying up a bulk quantity of milk, however, may not be such a good idea as it is likely to perish before it can be consumed which would be a waste of money. Having somewhere to store your bulk purchases may also be a challenge but if you are able to take advantage, buying wholesale could help you to pay less for the same product.

Do You Really Need That Label?

Did you know that a lot of brand name fashion labels purchase items themselves from 3rd party factories and simply stick their own label on it? Obviously this is not the case when it comes to more specialised items but where T-shirts are concerned, for example, you could buy exactly the same product for a fraction of the price for no other reason than it doesn’t have a flashy name on it. In many cases the label is so small anyway that it is barely noticeable, yet still you pay a premium on an item that will cost you much less elsewhere. If having that label is not so important to you then you could well end up paying much less for an item that is just as good in terms of quality.

If you do find that you are struggling to pay for what you want and you are considering asking for same day loans to help you out, it could be that you could simply pay less for the item instead. Try to take into account mark-ups and branding and you could find that it is much easier to afford what you want after all.

When Jamie Finch finds an item he would like to purchase but cannot afford it he might use a same day loan from Fast Forward to Payday to help. Otherwise he may look to source the goods from another supplier that may be able to offer the same product for less.
