Our neighbors home is still up for sale

December 10, 2007 by Tricia

Our neighbors house still hasn’t sold yet. I think it’s been up for sale since the end of September.

The other day I was in our back enclosed porch cleaning up the area so our puppy wouldn’t get into anything that might harm her and someone was seeing the house next door. The people stopped to talk on the porch and didn’t realize I was right next to them on my porch (the window in between is frosted) and I over heard them saying the house was too much of a fixer upper for them.

The house really does need work. The real estate agent originally had it listed at $349,000 but it looks like it’s been lowered to $333,000. Both prices are really good for our area. I’m fairly certain with the work we’ve done to our home we could list ours at close to one hundred thousand higher, but there home really is in bad shape inside.

Chris was talking to the owner the other day and he told Chris that mortgage companies won’t lend anyone money for the house because their oil tank is more than 15 years old. Hmmm so is ours but we have insurance. It makes me wonder if they don’t even have home insurance? Anyway, they are going to have the oil tank removed and install gas.

Still … their price is too high for their home. They’ve done absolutely nothing to fix it up at all.

It still looks like it was last decorated in the 60’s or 70’s and like nothing much has been done to it since then.

If they ever do manage to sell the house I hope we get good neighbors. That’s all I ask.

Stay in comfort in a furnished apartment in when you stay in Dubai

December 7, 2007 by Tricia

If you’re traveling to Dubai for a vacation or possibly to live there while you are on a work assignment you’re going to need a place to stay.

If you will be staying for any length of time you might want to look into renting an apartment while you are there.

I don’t know about you, but whenever I have to stay in a hotel for more than three days I dislike it. Depending what area I’m visiting I’d much rather stay in a cabin, or some kind of vacation rental home. It’s not home, but it certainly feels much more like home than a one room hotel room does! I also like having a kitchen and being able to cook my meals or warm food.

As I was saying, if you will be in Dubai and if you don’t want to stay in a tiny hotel room for weeks on end why not look into one of the lovely dubai hotel apartments or dubai apartments available at dubaiapartments.biz.

The apartments are being rented out by their private owners and property managers and they are often luxury apartments that cost much less to stay in than in a hotel. Of course you can also find some very nice dubai hotels listed at dubaiapartments.biz.

All of the apartments for rent are of the quality of a three star hotel or greater. I believe all of the apartments are furnished and have all of the amenities that you would need to make your stay comfortable.

The site is very easy to use. Just go to the site, select the location that you hope to find, select the price range that you desire, the date that you need the rental, amount of bedrooms as well as a few other features and the site will bring up a list of potential rentals to select from. Once you find one you like you can follow the easy instructions and book the furnished apartment.

You can view photos of many of the apartments that are available for rent as well.

Dubaiapartments.biz is the largest short term rental portal in Dubai. There are over 120 self catering properties listed. So if you are going to be staying in Dubai stay in comfort and rent an apartment.

I saw a sign

October 5, 2007 by Tricia

Well our neighbors finally did it. The other day I looked out side and there’s evidence that they got themselves a real estate agent because they now have a big For Sale sign on their lawn.

Yeahhhhhh! With any luck my Karaoke neighbors will move away and loud bad singing will be heard no more from the house next door.

I think I spotted the sign on Sunday or Monday, but so far I haven’t seen anyone going into the house for a viewing. That actually reminds me, I’ll have to look it up online (or talk to the neighbors) and see how much they are trying to sell it for. I think when they first told my husband in early August that they were going to put their house up for sale in September that they were going to ask for $275,000 which is kind of low for this neighborhood. Maybe they’ve raised the price and now it’s too high?

Instead of throwing out the things they don’t need they piled them in the backyard in front of their shed that’s attached to their garage. Why they didn’t just put in the shed I don’t know, but it makes their yard look trashy.

I’m of the opinion that if you really want to sell your house you make sure both the yard, exterior of the house and the interior all look as nice as possible. Of course I’ve never sold a home, but I sure did look at a lot of them before we decided to put an offer on this house. I know that the tidier a house looked the more interested I was – well if the basic structure and look of the house appealed to me.

The lap of luxury

September 18, 2007 by Tricia

If you enjoy looking at luxury homes you’ve got to go and visit my home and gardening site. I wrote a post yesterday about a luxury home that’s built on a golf course and I included several photos.

The house is for sale, but it’s way out of my price range at 2.5 million! Unless I win the lottery I’ll never be able to own a home like that, but I can dream!

Can you imagine living on a golf course? I’m not a huge fan of golf, but I know my husband would love to play the game more often. I’m sure he wouldn’t be opposed to living on or near a golf course. I’ve seen him browsing sites like Callaway golf in the past so I know he wants to play more often than he has been.

I’ve gone off course. My whole point was that if you want to see a beautiful home go and read the post I wrote on As the Garden Grows. You can even see a virtual tour of the house! Wow, wow, wow and drool!

Making money – What works?

September 18, 2007 by Tricia

I just finished writing a post on one of my tech blogs The Webfiles where I talk about some of the affiliate and advertising programs that I use to monetize my sites.

I think I’ll do a series about the programs that have been working for me and how to attempt to balance advertising on a site with maintaining traffic.

As I wrote the post I visited some of the affiliate programs that I discussed and saw a number of new features. I’ll probably discuss pay for performance type programs too. So, if you are interested in successfully monetizing your website do keep an eye on The Webfiles as I’m sure I’ll have some great information to share with you.
