Planning our family reunion

July 17, 2007 by Tricia

I’m helping to plan our family get together that’s set for the end of August and I spent about two hours last night trying to find Dinner Theaters in Toronto. Surprisingly there aren’t as many as I would have thought there would be.

My brothers and sister, their kids, kids spouses and or dates are all getting together for at least four days of jam packed fun! The three of us that are in the Toronto area are working together to plan all the things we’ll be doing. Along with going to a Blue Jays baseball game, we’ll be going to a dinner theater, on a dinner boat cruise and having a huge barbecue.

It should be a fun time!

We’ve got 6 people coming from Vancouver … well they’ll actually be coming from their Orlando rental home because they will be vacationing in Florida the week before our get together, then I think there’s 4 from Ottawa, 4 from Barrie and 12 from the Toronto area. That’s 26 people! I hope we can get some group discounts for some of the events we’re planning! That’d be cool.

Do you have a family reunion this year? Are you looking forward to it?

Book with Alegria if you are vacationing in the Canary Islands

July 11, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve heard that Spain is a beautiful country to holiday in. Particularly the Canary Islands. If you’ve ever thought of visiting the Canary Islands you might want to visit Alegria.com. You will be able to get more information about the various islands in the form of tourist attractions, the culture, dining, beaches and accommodations.

Actually you can book your hotel room or other forms of accommodation directly through Alegria.com. They offer great service and prices.

Their staff have a wide knowledge of the local tourist industry since the staff have personally visited the premises listed on the Alegria.com website and have negotiated the best rates available for their clients.

You’ll probably also be pleased to know that when you book your accommodation through the Alegria website you’ll get an immediate confirmation.

Visit the site if you are planning a vacation to the Canary Islands.

A road trip out East

June 27, 2007 by Tricia

A few years ago my husband and I went on a trip out east with my parents. My parents were both approaching their 80’s by this time and while they would have gone on their own they appreciated the chance to go on a road trip with Chris and I. Plus, having four drivers made it much easier to travel!

We drove from Ottawa Ontario into Quebec, stopping in Quebec City to see the sights. Then over the next day or so we drove eastward until we reached New Brunswick seeing sites as we went. We mostly stayed in motels as we traveled but a few times we rented cabins and when we reached Prince Edward Island we rented a vacation home for a night.

Staying in the vacation home was great. I think we’d been on the road for close to a week by that time and it was nice to be able to do our laundry! The rental home was located beside a small bay and it was just beautiful.

Chris and I wanted to stay there for a few days, but we were the ones who had a limited time for a holiday as we had to get back to work in a week so we moved on and drove to Nova Scotia. We drove around the whole perimeter of the island … it’s not so easy to find a motel on the west side of Nova Scotia .. at least not if you are driving along the perimeter!

I’d never been out East before. I’d been out west several times – most often driving from Ottawa or Toronto all the way out west through the Rockies and all. So this was my chance to say that I’d been to almost every Canadian province. We didn’t go to Newfoundland – it was just too far to go in our limited amount of time. The ferry ride alone takes 6 or 8 hours I think.

Leaving Nova Scotia we drove back through part of New Brunswick and into Maine. I’d always wanted to go to Maine because one of my favorite authors lives there and bases many of his novels in Maine. Can you guess who it is? Steven King of course!

While in Maine we stayed at a wonderful Maine bed and breakfast. It was only two miles from New Hampshire so we had diner in one State and slept in another. The next day we drove through New Hampshire, Vermont and into New York State and then back into Ontario at Cornwall.

I really enjoyed that trip. The people from out east are so friendly and helpful. The scenery was just lovely too.

Of all the places we stayed on our adventure the two places that stand out in my memory as places that I’d definitely stay in again were the vacation rental in PEI and the Bed and Breakfast in Maine. I wish I could remember the names of each place!

I may be biased but I think pretty much all of Canada is beautiful. If you ever do come to Canada for a visit I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself. If you already live here, but haven’t seen all of this great country I suggest that you try to see some of our lovely country.

Take a road trip if you can, as you’ll see more that way and you’ll also get a better idea of just how huge Canada is!

A rental condo or home is so much better!

June 25, 2007 by Tricia

I love the idea of staying in a villa or rental home when I travel. Perhaps that’s because when I traveled as a child with my parents we always stayed in rental cabins, hotels or motels with dinettes, or rental homes.

It’s just so much nicer. You can relax, cook your own food, do your own laundry if you really want to … yes, much better than staying in stuffy hotel room.

Now, having told you my preference for vacationing I’d like to tell you about Rocky Point condo rentals in beautiful Puerto Penasco Mexico.

Imagine staying in a Oceano-Rentals rental home or condo with an ocean front view? All their rentals are furnished with satellite TV’s, internet access, fully equipped kitchens, and furnishings.

Rocky Point is located near the Sea of Cortez, a beautiful peaceful area to spend your holiday. Check it out if you are planning a vacation in Mexico.

Need to book a hotel room for your upcoming vacation?

June 22, 2007 by Tricia

Planning a holiday or going on a business trip? If you want to save some money you should visit cheaperthanhotels.co.uk. The site has listings for over 30,000 hotels in 130 countries worldwide. It would be almost impossible to not find a hotel on this site.

Another thing that I like about this site is that you can view it in 8 European languages. The prices of the hotel rooms can also be viewed in the countries currency. See the Cheap Hotels in Sweden for an example.

You can book hotel rooms in advance, up to a year in advance if I’m not mistaken, or you can search for last minute deals.

When you are viewing the site in search of a hotel room in a particular city you can sort the search results by location, star rating, price, hotel name, and by last minute deals and year round accommodation. Once you click on a hotel you’ll not only learn more about the type of rooms available, but you’ll also be able view photos of the hotel and the hotel rooms.

There are listings for hostels, usually priced by bed, and serviced apartments.

Visit the site and check out the great prices for yourself.
