Some Fun Things To Do With Your Wedding Photos

June 15, 2013 by Trish

After your big wedding day, life can often feel a little like an anti-climax. You’ll have had all that excitement and stress leading up to marriage, and then suddenly it will all be over and you’ll find yourself going back to what is pretty much just normal everyday life. The thing is, that married life isn’t in reality all that far removed from life before you were married. Sure you wear a ring on your finger, and maybe your self-view will have altered slightly, but mostly you’ll have the same day-to-day routine and life will carry on as ever.

One great keepsake you have from the wedding right away though, will be all your pictures. You’ll have hundreds, if not thousands, of pictures to go through and there are all kinds of fun things you can do with them to try and keep the day alive a little longer. Here are some uses for your wedding photos.

Facebook

Once you get to a certain age, you’ll find that Facebook becomes almost entirely filled with pictures of weddings. This is fine, and you will probably have suffered in silence up until now, but now it’s your turn to contribute and to show off your happiness to the world. Facebook is a great place to upload, and friends who attended your wedding will be eager to see themselves in professional photos. Likewise you should also find that there are a few great profile pictures and cover pictures for you to use from the batch which will help show how important the day – and your new spouse – are to you.

There are other places you can use these pictures on your computer too. For instance you can set a picture as your desktop wallpaper, or as your phone wallpaper, and you can put photos from your wedding as your screensaver. That way you’ll constantly be reminded of the amazing occasion.

Create an Album

With so many photos digital these days, some people will never create a physical photo album. For an event this big though that’s a big shame, so make sure that you put some time and thought into creating a real photo album that you can flick through with friends or just when you’ve got a bored moment. If you don’t want to go the traditional route of sticking photos into little plastic folders, then you should be able to order a nice book of your photos (that you design) using a site like Lulu to publish it. That way you can also pass them around to others.

Frame Them

You should also be sure to frame a few photos from your wedding so that they’re there to enjoy even when you’re not specifically looking for them. This will also serve as a good conversation starter, so pick a few of your favourite ones and ask your wedding photographers if they can print them out for you nicely. Then get a frame to do them justice and place them in key positions around the house.

One nice idea? Put a small photo in a drawer you go into regularly – you’ll find you look at it far more often than you would if it was standing on the mantelpiece.

Too many photos, too little time to edit!

November 22, 2009 by Tricia

I finally finished going over all the pictures I took this summer. What a job! We had a busy summer with more house guests than usual, and somehow I just never found the time to go over all the pictures that I took of the things we did this summer.

Of course, I transferred the pictures from our digital cameras to the computer, but I didn’t spend time editing them like I usually do.

As a result I have several folders of photos that need to be cropped or resized. I don’t know why, but I hate editing my photos! It’s not like it’s hard to do, but I take a LOT of pictures … so it’s very time consuming and I never seem to have a lot of spare time! Maybe it’s a good thing that this summer was kind of cold and rainy … I didn’t take as many photos as I normally do!

Do you edit your digital photos? If you do, do you enjoy doing it, or is it a task that you put off like I do?

BTW if you’d like to see some of my photos check out my photo blog Breath of Life.

I hate seeing my garden die down in the Fall

I used to love Autumn, but now that I garden there’s some sadness whenever fall arrives.

I hate to see my garden die down for the winter. I know it’s part of a cycle, but I sometimes wish that I lived in a climate where my plants could bloom year round.

Hmm maybe this year I’ll be as successful as last with my indoor plants. Last year, between my garden plants blooming from late March until early December and my indoor plants (Orchids, indoor tropical hibiscus, Amaryllis etc) blooming from late December to April I had blooms all the time. It was lovely.

This is a picture of the Cosmo’s blooming outside my house in my planted boulevard. They’re starting to die down, but a few of the flowers are still stubbornly blooming.

I like how the petals of this rose, Yves Piaget, go wild as the flower begins to die down. Isn’t this a pretty rose? I love it’s color.

What’s blooming in your garden right now as we head for winter?

Lovely white phlox in the garden

Well summer’s almost over but you wouldn’t know it if you took a look at my garden.

Most of my plants are still blooming and I expect them to keep blooming and looking fairly nice until late October or even later. Some years I’ve still had roses blooming well into December!

This year my Phlox has been doing well. Often it blooms and then the leaves get covered in powdery mildew and the stalks die down only to regrow slowly hindering further blooms. This year however my Phlox did well and wasn’t affected by powdery mildew very much (my roses on the other hand were!).

Here’s what my Phlox looks like in bloom –

White Phlox 5

Isn’t it lovely? The flower heads are on stalks of about three and a half feet tall and there are usually several blooms on each stalk. I planted the Phlox near my Patio so that I can enjoy the flowers while I sit at my patio table. I also like that they are white flowers … you can still see them fairly well at night so they help highlight the garden.

Do you garden? What’s blooming in your garden right now?

I just love it when my roses are blooming. It certainly doesn’t hurt if half my other plants are in bloom as well – like now!

Here’s a lovely Antique rose that I grow in my garden. It’s a climbing rose named Prince Napoleon. Isn’t it pretty?

This rose has the most gorgeous scent as well. It’s true rose scent. I adore it!

This little plant with it’s pretty blue flowers is blooming as well. I can’t remember the name of the plant though … it’s something like Agathum ..

Cute, aren’t they?

Another rose that I’m always happy to see bloom, which puts out far to few blooms for my liking (I’d love it to bloom constantly!) is my Chicago Peace Hybrid Tea rose …

Chicago peace rose

I love it’s colors – mainly pink, but as it ages it has yellows and oranges in it that combine in complimentary ways. it’s beautiful. No scent though or not much to speak of!

Do you garden? What’s blooming in your yard this week?
