I would not want to clean this mess up

April 27, 2010 by Tricia

Dog and cat make a big mess in the house!

OMG … if this was my dog that had made this mess I think I’d be really mad. LOL

Can you imagine coming home to find out that your cat and dog had fun all day ripping up a case of toilet paper or maybe paper towels? Who knows what else they got into that day too … it certainly looks like there’s at least two rooms to clean up!

I think I’d rather search all day long for the best acne treatment rather than deal with that mess! LOL

My dog has only made little messes … like the one time she got a hold of the fake fur collar on my winter coat and bit some tufts of fake fur off of it … nothing like this!

Have you ever come home to a mess like this thanks to your cat, dog or maybe even your kid?

Pets raiding the fridge?!?!

April 27, 2010 by Tricia

Dog and Cat raiding the fridge for snacks

I am so glad that my dog is fairly well behaved … especially considering that she’s a hyperactive young Labrador Retriever!

She never tries to jump up to see what’s on the table, or on the kitchen counter. Oh sure she’ll sniff around the table and the edge of the counter but I’ve never once caught her jumping up or trying to steal any food.

She even investigates the fridge and cupboards when we have them open … but not like the dog and cat in the picture above! I think those two are going to need some Lipofuze if they make a habit of raiding the fridge on their own.

Do you have a pet? has your dog or cat ever stolen your food or jumped up on a counter or table to steal a bit?

We had a scare with our dog today

April 2, 2010 by Tricia

It was really nice here in Toronto today. So nice that when my husband and I were planning on going outside to do some work on our front yard we decided to let our dog sit in the enclosed front porch to watch us work.

We had a scare though.

When my husband opened the screen door our dog ran out of the house! This has only happened once before and luckily, just as she did the one time it happened before she ran onto the sidewalk and then into our driveway towards the backyard.

Sigh of relief!

If she’d run out into the street I think I’d be doing some doggy funeral planning right now. We live on a very busy street and I’d hate to think of what might have happened if she’d run in front of a car.

Our Lab, Midnight is usually pretty good about listening to us. I tell her to sit and stay when I’m opening the outer screen door and she does. I do however usually keep my hand close to her collar so that I can grab her if she decides not to stay put, but she always does. I think what happened today was that my husband forgot to tell her to say and since he’s the one that walks her most often I think she just thought she was going out with him.

Anyway, I’m relieved that my dog is safe.

Have you had any close calls with your dog getting out of the house?

Our dog is finding golf balls in the park

March 3, 2010 by Tricia

My husband does most of the dog walking in this household. Our Lab gets a walk each morning and evening with my husband. If I’m feeling up to it (remember I have Crohn’s so I feel awful quit often) I give her an additional walk in the afternoon.

We try to vary where our dog is walked. It’s never the same route, however, my husband has been taking our Lab to the park just down the street a little more often than he usually does in the dead of winter. Why? Well … since we’ve had an extremely rare lack of snow here in Toronto this winter the park is a great place to go with the dog. Usually the park gets all the excess snow dumped in it in the winter, but that hasn’t really been happening this year. So as long as we don’t mind a slightly muddy dog it’s a great place to take her.

Some of our neighbors must have been taking advantage of the mild winter we’ve been having because our dog has become a great source for used golf balls LOL. Yep, she’ll come up to us with two or three golf balls in her mouth. Someones been getting in a little putting practice it seems.

When you walk your dog does he or she find interesting or unusual items to bring home?

Does your dog act differently when you’re sick?

January 28, 2010 by Tricia

I don’t think my dog knows what to make of me now that I have a cold. She keeps coming up to me with her bone wanting to play, but of course I’m feeling so bad I just can’t!

She’s also fascinated by all the tissues I’m using. She watches me bring tissue up to my face and has a puzzled look on her face when I bring it away from my face again … I don’t know what she’s thinking … maybe she thinks the tissues are something I should be eating? Naturally she also tries to grab the tissues as I put them in a bag (yes I’m blowing my nose so much that I have my own personal garbage nearby).

Does your dog act different or seem confused when you’re sick with a cold or the flu?

I sure hope that I feel a bit better by tomorrow. my nose is raw and my lips are chapped from mouth breathing … like I said earlier I wouldn’t want to be getting an insurance quote looking and feeling like this!
