Don’t you hate when you have to buy extras to make something work?

November 18, 2007 by Tricia

You know, when we bought our HD DLP television a few years ago .. 2004 I believe, it didn’t even come with any HDMI switches. In fact at that time you really couldn’t even buy this type of connection in Canada, but of course if you want the best performance out of your HD television or say an HD DVD player (like we have) you really need one of these connections.

I can’t tell you how much that ticked me off when I found out that it didn’t have an HDMI connection. Oh sure it has the outlet for it, but the vital connection wasn’t included in what was then a close to $5000 TV?

I think I’m going to get one of these switches now so that we can hook up the HD PVR and the HD TV. Who knows, maybe we’ll get a second one so that we can also connect the HD dvd player with one as well. Naturally all of these items work with lesser connections but I bet the picture is so much better with an HDMI.

What’s with the Tiaras?

November 14, 2007 by Tricia

Maybe one of you can help me figure out something that we kept seeing in Vegas? Whenever we were walking the strip at night or if we were in a bar we kept seeing girls wearing tiaras? What’s up with that?

Were these girls out celebrating and having their bachlorette parties or is this a new look that I’m behind on discovering?

We did see a few brides carrying their wedding flowers. They probably got married in one of the casino wedding chapels. I didn’t realize it but there was a wedding chapel in the hotel that we stayed in, that’s why I suspect every hotel on the strip probably has one!

Chris kept seeing women that he was sure were transvestites. Yes I know there are probably a lot in Vegas, but probably not too many more than we have here in Toronto. Hopefully he didn’t mistake too many real women! LOL

I’d definitely go back to Vegas again. I’ll make sure I’m feeling 100% next time though! There’s so much to see and do that you really want to be feeling your best so that you can do as much as possible.

An outing for the nephews and nieces

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

Aw. Apparently the Disney channel has taken the Hannah Montana show on the road so I thought maybe getting Hannah Montana tickets for a couple of my young nieces and nephews would be a great gift idea, but I only see one Canadian listing.

It’s on December 15th. Well at least it’s a Saturday. It’d be terrible if it was a week night during school. This way, if I get tickets we could borrow the kids and make a day of it in downtown Toronto. Perhaps taking the kids to the CN tower so that they could see what the city looks like from high above, and see if any of them would dare to walk on the glass floor! I won’t, but they might!

Too warm inside – too cool outside

October 21, 2007 by Tricia

Last week it started getting cool here so we made sure our furnace was turned on. It went on several times last week because it really was cool outside, but the last few days it’s been seasonably warm – not too warm, but pleasant outside. Obviously with it being fairly nice outside our furnace hasn’t come on for a few days, but I’m finding it warm inside the house.

We’ve been opening the windows for a little while during the warmest part of the day, but again, it’s cool enough that you don’t want to keep them open too long and make the furnace come on. However, I’m finding it pretty warm inside the house. Especially at night.

It’s 13 Celsius outside at 3 in the morning. That’s 55 F for those that don’t understand Celsius.

I don’t really feel comfortable opening the doors and windows at this time of night so I’ve turned on all the ceiling fans. They’re helping a bit as they stir the air, but I wish the house were a little cooler.

Maybe I will go upstairs and open a few windows.

Don’t you just hate it when you’re too warm and you can’t do much about it?

It’s cold tonight! Brrrrr

September 12, 2007 by Tricia

This is the coldest night in months! Last week we had a heat wave and temperatures were getting into the 40 Celsius (104 F) range with the humidity and now it’s gotten very cool outside.

Actually the last couple of days have been pleasant with temperatures in the low 20’s (68 F to 75 F), but yesterday evening exactly at the same time my husband got home from work a huge storm came up and it cooled everything off dramatically. I mean trees blown over and all!

During and after the storm the temperature dropped. By 11 pm it was only 12 Celsius (53 F) and now, at 3:30 am it’s 11 Celsius (52 F). That’s cold! It’s making me think of winter and it’s far too early to think of winter! It has reminded me that I need a new winter coat though. Perhaps I’ll get a nice warm North Face jacket? One that can stand up to our cold Canadian winters and strong icy cold winds.

It looks like it will be cool most nights over the next week. I think I might have to think about bringing some of the tropical plants that I’ve placed in my garden into the enclosed back porch at night too.

Ahhh I hate the thought of cool weather coming. I haven’t had enough summer yet. It can’t be almost over … can it?
