It doesn’t seem like the end of November

November 24, 2009 by Tricia

Considering that we’re nearing the end of November, I’d say we’ve been having pretty good weather here in Toronto. I mean, by this time last year we’d already had a small snow or two. Melted quickly of course!

I’m not saying it’s warm here, but the temps have been slightly higher than normal in the last couple of weeks. At this rate I don’t think we’ll have our first real snow until December. Hopefully it’s not a huge storm!

I still have a bit of yard work to do before the snow falls and stays. I’ve got to remove some plant leaves and stems, cut down the huge sunflowers in the front boulevard and just generally tidy up the yard. Oh and I have to bring in the patio sets outdoor cushions. They’re weather proofed, but I still don’t want them out in the extreme cold of winter – surely that can’t be good for them.

Has the weather been decent in your area? If so, do you still have outdoor chores that need to be done?

Too many photos, too little time to edit!

November 22, 2009 by Tricia

I finally finished going over all the pictures I took this summer. What a job! We had a busy summer with more house guests than usual, and somehow I just never found the time to go over all the pictures that I took of the things we did this summer.

Of course, I transferred the pictures from our digital cameras to the computer, but I didn’t spend time editing them like I usually do.

As a result I have several folders of photos that need to be cropped or resized. I don’t know why, but I hate editing my photos! It’s not like it’s hard to do, but I take a LOT of pictures … so it’s very time consuming and I never seem to have a lot of spare time! Maybe it’s a good thing that this summer was kind of cold and rainy … I didn’t take as many photos as I normally do!

Do you edit your digital photos? If you do, do you enjoy doing it, or is it a task that you put off like I do?

BTW if you’d like to see some of my photos check out my photo blog Breath of Life.

Need a great wedding gift idea

November 17, 2009 by Tricia

We just found out recently that my niece will be getting married at the end of the year. She had been planning to get married next June, but her fiance joined the armed forces and he’ll be shipping out in January (I think) so they pushed the wedding date up.

So now I’m trying to figure out what to get them for a wedding gift. Of course, we’ve had a lot of financial problems this year so while I want to get them something very nice I also have to try to keep the expenses down.

At least it’s a good time of year to be looking for a gift since there will be lots of Christmas sales coming up! No Black Friday sales here in Canada of course – since we already had Thanksgiving in October (and we don’t have a big sale associated with it unlike our US counterparts).

They are just starting out so I guess they need just about everything … well everything but Couture Jewelry since my niece grew up with a mom and aunt me) in the jewelery trade. LOL

Any good wedding gift ideas for a couple just starting out?

I need a TV in the bedroom

November 10, 2009 by Tricia

Do you ever feel so crappy that you just want to stay in bed? I feel that way a lot thanks to my Crohn’s and this strange tiredness that’s come over me in the last couple of weeks.

I’ve been thinking about it, and since we have an extra TV upstairs,, why not set it up so that I could actually stay in bed occasionally when I want to? All we need is a TV wall mount and we’d be all set. Yeah .. we don’t even have the TV set up … but if we got the wall mount and maybe put the TV on the wall across from the bed it would be great.

Not that I like watching day time TV though … LOL I guess we’d need to set up a DVD player too.

Do you have a TV in your bedroom?

Ugh – Fast food for dinner

November 10, 2009 by Tricia

I was so tired tonight that I didn’t cook dinner. Actually I fell asleep for two hours and didn’t wake up until my husband came home from work!

By that time it was 8 pm and a little late to start cooking. So we had McDonalds for dinner. We don’t have that often. It’s rare. But I always feel guilty after eating such a high calorie meal! Where’s some Medifast coupons when you need them!

Oh and the salt! Did you know that Canadian fast food apparently has even more salt in it than American fast food? Why? I don’t know … but it’s sickeningly salty.

Do you ever feel guilty after eating a fast food meal?
