Do you believe it when Celebrities endorse products?

October 4, 2010 by Tricia

When I’m not feeling well in the evening I tend to stay up late watching TV and doing things on my computer.

Usually I watch TV channels that play either old comedy shows or animations like The Simpsons and South Park when I’m late. I guess the humor and perhaps the familiarity of the reruns makes me feel a little better when my body is not making me feel so good.

One thing I’ve noticed is that sometime after midnight the channels that play all these old rerun shows tend to have a lot of mini-infomercials and acne treatment commercials. Of course each acne commercial sweats that theirs is the top acne treatment and they always seem to have a celebrity endorsing the product.

I have to wonder if the celebrities endorsing products like acne and skin care treatments really have ever tried the products. I mean, their skin is so clear. I suppose they do use something, but I’m sure they all have dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons giving them special skin treatments as well. What do you think? Do you believe celebrity endorsement of products?

Checking out some of this weeks new TV shows

September 22, 2010 by Tricia

My husband and I are home tonight – after eating a big, homemade dinner, we’re now furiously trying to catch up on many of the new and returning TV shows that have been playing this week.

We just finished watching The Event. I have to say I wasn’t all that intrigued by the show. It kind of reminded me of last years Flash Forward – a show that I really liked … but not as good. Maybe I’ll like the next episode better.

Now we’re watching Criminal Minds. We both really enjoy this show. I almost wish this show was on year round. So far the first episode is living up to my expectations.

Our PVR is pretty full so we’re speeding through the commercials and trying to watch as many shows as we can tonight. I think we’ll be watching TV until midnight tonight.

When we finally give up on watching TV I’m starting a new skin care routine .. well I sort of started it last night with an at home facial. I’m going back to deep cleaning my skin at night and then putting on a face cream before bed. Gotta take care of my skin.

Anyway .. are you watching some of the new TV shows this week? Which ones have you watched? Do you like any of them?

Where the heck is my husband

September 21, 2010 by Tricia

Sigh … I’m still waiting for my husband to come home. He’s been out of town all day. It’s just about 10:30 and he should be home by now.

In an earlier post I mentioned that I’m taping all the returning TV shows on our PVR this week and well … it’s filling up quickly! It’s almost at 80% right now. This is not good.

I did try to watch a few shows that I didn’t think he’d be interested in watching, but I’ve run out of those now.

While I’ve been waiting for him to return I went up stairs and took care of my skin. I gave myself a facial – i did a facial mask and a deep moisturizing cleanser and then followed it up with under eye cream and moisturizer.

I’m all set for the night … I just need my husband to get home. Where the heck is he?

On my own for the day

September 21, 2010 by Tricia

My husband is out of town today. Normally he has Monday’s off, but this week, he changed shifts with someone at work and he ended up having today off.

As it happens that worked out well for him, because on Sunday evening we found out that a close friend of ours father had passed away. The visitation and funeral is out of town … in my husbands home town, so early this morning he got his things together and drove out of town for the day.

I didn’t go with him because I haven’t been feeling very well for the last week or so. I’ve had awful abdominal pain .. maybe yet another Crohn’s flare. Although oddly enough I’m feeling a little bit better today (hopefully that continues!). He went early so that he could see his parents and he had to go over to his aunts. We’re storing our pop up trailer on her property and she didn’t like where it was parked so he had to move it to the back of her yard.

Anyway … because of all the phone calls last night making arrangements for todays trip our PVR is pretty full! All the new and returning TV shows started again last night and we didn’t get a chance to watch very many of the ones we taped. We only watched House, Chuck and Weeds (from Sunday night). Tonight I’m taping a bunch of shows and I don’t think my husband will be home until 10:30 or later. I’ll probably watch a few shows that I don’t think he’ll be that interested in … but I think our PVR will be at about 90% by the time he gets home! LOL So early in the TV season and it will already be full. Oh boy.

So I guess tonight I’m eating alone, walking the dog on my own, and spending most of the evening on my own too. Sigh … Oh well .. at least this trip out of town should cut out the trip we were planning for this coming weekend to take care of the trailer.

When Chris does get home I’m going to try some acnepril. I’ve been breaking out lately so I figure this is worth a try. I’ll let you know in a couple of weeks if it’s helping.

Ok … off to feed the dog!

Most Shocking!

June 5, 2010 by Tricia

I’m stuck at home today all alone. My husband went out of town to do some work at his parents house and since it’s an overnight visit I got to stay home with our dog.

So … I’m working on the computer and watching TV at the same time. Somehow I stumbled onto a show that I hadn’t seen before “Most Shocking”. I guess the station I’m watching is having a “Most Shocking” marathon or something because the show is playing one episode after another.

In general it’s not my type of show, but I’ll agree it is shocking and since I had nothing better to do today I’d guess I’d have to say I’m finding it fascinating. The show is about dramatic car accidents caught on tape, police chases and of course many many store robberies.

They even showed the liquor store robbery where a guy breaks into the liquor store though the ceiling and then gets trapped in the store. It’s a real dumb criminal story. LOL

I was amazed at the brutality of some of the robberies. Guys jumping counters and beating people over the head with crowbars only to get a small amount of cash, some snacks and in one case, I think, some weight loss drinks. It’s unbelievable.

I think I’ve seen enough brutal accidents and robberies for the day … I think I’ll channel surf and see what else is on – then I’m gone to order some food. Might as well treat myself while the hubbies away.
