Recovering from a very busy weekend!

September 5, 2007 by Tricia

Well we had our family reunion this past weekend. After five days of getting together with my family I’m totally exhausted. It seems like we were always on the go.

The major highlights of the weekend were attending a baseball game – our team the Blue Jays won of course, seeing some of the cast of Heroes at the game, going on a boat cruise and gazing at the lovely city skyline at sunset from the boats deck, a big family barbecue, going to the beach on the hottest day of the weekend, dining in restaurants twice with family members and going to see my nephews photos at an art gallery.

Busy, busy, busy!

To top it all off on Sunday and Monday I really wasn’t feeling well at all. You know I have Crohns … well I thought I might need to buy some incontinence products! Yeah that’s how bad I was feeling and my stomach was just gurgling. It was awful, but I made it through.

Still, even thought I didn’t feel all that well over the weekend I enjoyed myself. I don’t get to see one of my brothers or his family very often since they live on the other side of our large country so I always try to make the best of his visits.

Did you have a nice holiday weekend? Oh … perhaps you didn’t have a long weekend. It was Labor day here on Monday and that’s a statutory holiday so all of North America had a long weekend.

We had a great time on our dinner boat cruise

I took this photo while on our dinner boat cruise on Saturday evening. We were on a boat cruising around on Lake Ontario just outside of Toronto. I went up on deck about a half hour before sunset and stayed there until the sun was almost down snapping approximately 200 photos of the lovely scenery as the boat slowly moved across the lake.

What a beautiful evening we had. I’d highly recommend the Toronto Dinner boat cruises if your visiting the city or even if you live in the area and want to impress your date. The dinner was served as a buffet and it was delicious.

Oh, we had a couple sitting at the table beside us who were celebrating their five year wedding anniversary. They were dressed in the same clothes they wore to their wedding. She wore a simple white wedding gown and he wore a tuxedo. Everyone thought that they’d just been married, but it was their anniversary. They must be a very romantic couple.

What should I do in Vegas?

August 31, 2007 by Tricia

I might be going to Las Vegas in November.

I was just talking about it on my main blog Tricia’s Musings. I may or may not going depending upon my health as I’ve been awfully sick lately.

It’s a blogging convention that I’ll be going to if I go. I’d still like to know the full itinerary, especially since I was asked to be a speaker. Actually it’d be nice if they’d pay for my hotel room or something. Nothings been offered so far.

Anyway. For those who’ve been to Las Vegas what should I do while I’m there. Well provided I have any free time I mean. I keep hearing about the Tropicana Las Vegas. Do they have Vegas shows there?

What else should I see or do while in Vegas? Don’t say gamble as we aren’t big on gambling.

Now that’s what I call Pulling a Trish!

August 30, 2007 by Tricia

Oh Geez! I’m such a klutz!

I just put the laptop computer down on the table in front of me and I was attempting to go to the kitchen to get a drink and take some of my medication.

I didn’t get that far!

I got my leg caught in the cord for my optical mouse! I stumbled and went flying into the lazy boy chair several feet away. Head first!

I’m so glad that Chris is in bed and didn’t see that. I’d never live it down!

I think I might be in need of high risk life insurance. I mean, I’m going to be on a boat cruise on Saturday night. A boat! With my luck I’ll fall overboard!

A little TLC for our friend

August 30, 2007 by Tricia

On Monday one of our friends came over for a visit. He’d just broken up with his girlfriend and he was feeling down so we invited him over for dinner.

Poor Oliver. He’s been really stressed out lately. He works at the hospital with us and he’s been there longer than we have. Look at me, I’m already so sick that I can’t even work, and my husbands had health problems too. I think the hospital makes people sick.

In Olivers case it’s the stress. He had to take some time off due to stress, but he hopes to return next week.

I’m still not sure why he and his girlfriend broke up as he never did say. I think he was just happy to get together with some friends and spend some time talking and eating a very good meal if I do say so myself. Check out my main blog Tricia’s Musings if you want to see what we ate. The post is called – Disgusting! But it all turned out ok. Now if that title doesn’t get you to visit my other blog nothing will. LOL

Our friend was like a different person when he was ready to leave. He was kind of stressed and super alert when he arrived around four pm, but when he was leaving at midnight he was very relaxed. I really do think that his visit to our home helped him.

We drove him home since he only lives a few blocks away. Once we were there he invited us in for a drink so we went up to his apartment for a few minutes. I just love how he’s decorated his home. He has a studio RTA furniture style going on. Simple open concept design and most of his furnishings – well entertainment units etc are made of steel so it has a cool modern look. For a guy he’s got taste!

Now that I’m talking about our friend I’ve just thought that maybe we should give him a call later today and see how he’s been doing this week. He’s such a nice guy that I hate to think of him sitting around by himself feeling down in his home.
