Pampered Puppy

March 7, 2008 by Tricia

We have a very pampered puppy.

She has so many toys it’s not funny. I jokingly call her my yuppy. She’s even got two doggy beds. Of course the one that’s in her crate has to be removed during the day because she’s still teething and lately she’s taken to chewing on everything again – including her doggy bed!

A couple of months ago I ordered her a new doggy bed from a Canadian company called Mammoth. Our dog is a Labrador Retriever and her first doggy bed is a donut shape and it’s only about two feet long. Midnight is 6 months old now and she just fits in the original doggy bed. It will be too small soon … so, as I was saying a couple of months ago I ordered her a new bed, one that will be more than big enough even when she’s fully grown.

I think the new bed is about 40 inches around! It’s huge! Oh and it’s filled with a memory foam mattress or well maybe not a mattress but memory foam. It’s so soft! She really is pampered! I wish my bed were that comfortable!

The new bed is too big to fit in the crate. Well we could cram it in, but we probably won’t do that. Right now it’s in our living room on the floor in front of the TV and it’s filled with her toys and a real bone that she likes to gnaw on.

I think we’ve finally got enough things to keep our dog happy for a long time. Well unless she goes nuts and destroys all her toys, that is!

Do you pamper your dog or cat? Does your pet have more toys than you did when you were a kid?

I need another trip to Vegas

March 7, 2008 by Tricia

Lately I keep thinking about our trip to Las Vegas last November and how much I enjoyed the sites and sounds of Vegas. I’m starting to think about planning another trip. Soon.

Perhaps it’s all the bad weather we’ve had this winter and the snow that just keeps falling this week, but I really think I need a holiday. I think it’s time I took a look at some Las Vegas hotels and perhaps book a room for a weekend or even a week!

When I was in Vegas in the fall I wasn’t well at all. There’s no guarantee that I’ll be ok if I go again, but it would sure be nice to feel ok and have some fun there. I did have fun on my trip but it would have been a lot better if I’d been feeling great. My husband on the other hand had a great time! On our first night he had to have the security guards help him find our room! I’d stayed out with some friends in a restaurant for a while when he headed back to our room after having a little tooooo much to drink!

If I do go on a trip to Vegas in the near future I’ll certainly try to stay in a different hotel than we stayed in last November. I didn’t like that hotel at all. Anyone have any suggestions?

The zipper pond?

I only wish that I had a big enough property that I could create a cool landscaping design! Maybe not quite like the zipper pond that I’ve included above, but something interesting and unusual would be really interesting don’t you think?

We did landscape our yard when we first created our garden. We put in build up raised garden beds pretty much all around the perimeter of the garden. We used easy lock stones. We also created an oval that is attached to the garden beds on one side and it juts out to one side and acts as a partition between the patio and the back area of the garden. It helps to create a garden room.

Have you landscaped your property? Did you do anything interesting? I’d love to see some photos if you have landscaped.

Those late night commercials

March 4, 2008 by Tricia

Do you ever find that when you’re watching TV late at night there’s more commercials for diet products, weight loss companies, Insurance for older adults and even burial policy insurance? There’s also a lot more commercials that are similar to infomercials yet almost as short as a normal commercial.

You have to wonder why you only see these commercials late at night or in the early morning hours don’t you? I’m sure commercial time is cheaper during those hours, but you have to wonder about some of the companies that advertise during those time periods too.

One time, when I’d first moved into my apartment many many years ago I was up late and I got caught up watching one of those late night commercials. I ended up ordering a set of pots and pans. I needed them as I’d just moved to my first apartment … but oh what a disappointment! The pots were made of aluminum or some other very light, very thin metal and they were brutal to use! LOL

Have you bought anything after watching a TV commercial and then regretted the purchase?

Dogs in the park

March 4, 2008 by Tricia

Speaking of capturing funny dog pictures! LOL

Now that we’re taking our puppy to the park on a regular basis it probably won’t be too long before we’ll see something like this ourselves. Midnight’s already got some doggy friends that we run into in the park and each time she goes we meet new dog owners and new dogs.

On Sunday we brought her to the park with a frisbee. She had a ton of fun playing with it. Unfortunately she mainly wanted to chase it and catch it and then chew on it rather than bring it back to us.

The frisbee attracted other dogs and it wasn’t long before another lab, a 13 month old, got a hold of her frisbee. It was cold out and the frisbee was made of a hard plastic that must have become brittle as it eventually cracked.

We took the frisbee away at that point as I was pretty sure that one of the dogs would end up with a cut mouth or something!

I guess we’ll have to get a softer rubber frisbee to play with next time.

It was fun bringing a toy to the park though. That was the first time we brought anything for Midnight to play with and it went over well.

Do you bring along something for your dog to play with when you go on a long walk or a visit to a park?
