I hope we use our travel club membership!

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

I was just thinking … now that we have a membership with a discount travel club – thanks to having booked our Las Vegas travel package through them – Chris and I should be able to get some really good travel deals!

Chris is afraid of flying though! I guess we’ll see how he does on our Las Vegas trip in two weeks and if he does ok maybe we’ll finally start traveling more often. I’d love to perhaps rent one of those vacation home Orlando for a week or so in March. The weather there would be a heck of a lot nicer than it is here at that time of year and the advantages of staying in a home rather than a hotel would be very nice.

I really don’t like staying in hotels at all. They’re too cramped! I guess hotel rooms remind me of my tiny tiny apartment that I had before we bought this house!

So I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that Chris doesn’t get to panicky on the plane to Las Vegas and keeps an open mind about traveling more often. I mean, I’ve been looking at some of the deals available to us now and it would be so nice to take advantage of these packages and get away for a while.

An outing for the nephews and nieces

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

Aw. Apparently the Disney channel has taken the Hannah Montana show on the road so I thought maybe getting Hannah Montana tickets for a couple of my young nieces and nephews would be a great gift idea, but I only see one Canadian listing.

It’s on December 15th. Well at least it’s a Saturday. It’d be terrible if it was a week night during school. This way, if I get tickets we could borrow the kids and make a day of it in downtown Toronto. Perhaps taking the kids to the CN tower so that they could see what the city looks like from high above, and see if any of them would dare to walk on the glass floor! I won’t, but they might!

Grumbly rainy day

October 23, 2007 by Tricia

Another day goes by and I still have a headache? Well it’s been pouring rain all day – scratch that – it’s been pouring rain since 1 am so maybe the rain has something to do with my headache and generally sour mood today?

Chris has the day off work and he was kind enough to go down to the passport office for me to try to get them to fix the error on my new passport. Remember they gave me a different birthplace. Uh huh. I’m really pleased with that since I’m going out of the country in two weeks! They did tell my husband that they’d put a rush on it and that my new passport would be available for pick up in two days. I just hope the new one doesn’t have any errors.

Since Chris is home today we were going to go out and get our hair cut and I wanted to do a little more shopping for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas, but I’m just not feeling up to going out and battling the crowds.

I didn’t tell you about the run in – literally – that I had with two women who budded in front of me in line at Walmart on Sunday did I? I’ll tell you about that one later. Some people are so darn rude!

Toad Lily

What a name for a lovely autumn flower – Toad Lily. I wonder who thought up that name?

The photo that I’ve posted today is of Toad Lily flower buds. If you ask me they’re more than a little phallic looking. I took that photo a couple of weeks ago and now the flowers are blooming.

This is what the Toad Lilies look like when they are blooming –

Aren’t they so much more lovely than their name?

Too warm inside – too cool outside

October 21, 2007 by Tricia

Last week it started getting cool here so we made sure our furnace was turned on. It went on several times last week because it really was cool outside, but the last few days it’s been seasonably warm – not too warm, but pleasant outside. Obviously with it being fairly nice outside our furnace hasn’t come on for a few days, but I’m finding it warm inside the house.

We’ve been opening the windows for a little while during the warmest part of the day, but again, it’s cool enough that you don’t want to keep them open too long and make the furnace come on. However, I’m finding it pretty warm inside the house. Especially at night.

It’s 13 Celsius outside at 3 in the morning. That’s 55 F for those that don’t understand Celsius.

I don’t really feel comfortable opening the doors and windows at this time of night so I’ve turned on all the ceiling fans. They’re helping a bit as they stir the air, but I wish the house were a little cooler.

Maybe I will go upstairs and open a few windows.

Don’t you just hate it when you’re too warm and you can’t do much about it?
