History Bites

July 5, 2007 by Tricia

Have you ever seen the show History Bites? It’s on the Comedy Channel. It might only be shown in Canada since it’s a Canadian production, but if you find history interesting and if you like comedy this show is an interesting mix of both.

Comedians act out some of the great events in history, acting like real people historically famous and otherwise as they show us how the events happen … however they throw in modern touches like TV commentators such as Larry King, a Martha Stewart like section that fits the period and sometimes the historic figures resemble current famous people like Ozzy Osbourne and others.

It’s not the best show in the world, but it’s also not the worst. Check it out sometime if you get a chance.

I’ve been a nurse for 15 years?

June 27, 2007 by Tricia

I was just thinking, it was around this time 15 years ago that I finally finished my nursing course. Wow, I’ve been a nurse for 15 years. It doesn’t seem that long!

I guess I should have happy memories of that time, but it was a little stressful. You see, just as I finished my course and began my new nursing career my husband went back to school. So here I was, a young nurse just building a career with student loans to pay off and I’d also become the breadwinner for the household since my husband went back to school.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure when I was going to school and my husband was the only one working it was hard on him too … but he wasn’t in a new career. At least he had that going for him.

When Chris finished his course I was still paying off my student loans. We then had to start paying off his too. His were higher than mine because he’d gone to a private school for an IT course. In fact I’d say his student loans were about 10 times mine! I’d had a couple of scholarships too so that helped keep mine reasonable, but still, our loans together were a heck of a lot of money.

We struggled through the payments. I never realized that we could have applied for a school loan consolidation. If we had we more than likely would have ended up reducing our total monthly payment and saving money because there’d be less interest on our total as we payed what we owed each month.

Well I guess you could say we learned our lesson the hard way. Now that I know you can consolidate student loans I”ll certainly be telling others that appear to be struggling to pay off their loans as they start out in their new careers.

Airbrush Tattoo Supplies and Equipment

June 25, 2007 by Tricia

If you’re a tattoo airbrush artist or perhaps someone who’s always wanted to be you should have a look at all the products being sold at the Tat Store.

They have everything from stencil airbrush, power palettes, hobby kits, ink, banners, Glitter tattoos, body crystals, airbrush tanning supplies and all of the airbrush tattoo equipment that you could possibly need to either get started or expand your business.

The Temporary Airbrush Tattoo store or TAT as it’s known has been the industry leader in providing supplies for the temporary airbrush tattoo industry.

If I were interested in getting a small business started doing temporary airbrush tattoos I’d purchase one of the three starter kits that they sell as they look like they’re the best way to get a start with temporary airbrush tattoos.

Cardinals and butterflies

June 25, 2007 by Tricia

I can’t believe it. You know what I saw in my garden yesterday afternoon? A cardinal!

I saw one once before, maybe two years ago, but not since then.

It’s so nice to know that my lovely garden is attracting all kinds of wildlife that we don’t normally see in the middle of such a big city.

Looking out at the garden today I’ve seen at least three different monarch butterflies buzzing around all the flowers. They are so pretty!

Now, I must get some photos of these creatures if I can. Last year I hunted down a butterfly for days that was hanging out around my Rose of Sharon tree. Every time I brought out the camera the butterfly flew away as if it knew I was trying to take it’s photo. I did eventually get a few great shots of it though.

Now to do it again.

Get a Beach Cruiser of your own

June 24, 2007 by Tricia

I would absolutely love to have one of these beach bikes. Don’t you just love the look of them?

The bikes are just simple one speed bikes but their design makes them great for riding – especially on sandy beaches.

I’ve actually been a fan of Beach Cruisers for a while now but I’ve yet to purchase one. However, looking at their 2007 line up of bikes I might just take the plunge and get a new bike.

There are so many different styles it’s mind boggling.

I love the low rider beach bike that is shown on the 2007 bike line up page. It looks so cool! You can get beach cruiser bikes for women, men, stick to the classic beach cruiser line, or show off your appreciation of design and style by getting one of their chopper cruisers.

If you want a bike for racing these bikes probably aren’t for you. They are designed for leisure riding. That’s why I think they’d be perfect for one of my favorite types of biking adventures.

You see, here in Toronto we have a fantastic beach area. There’s a boardwalk and bike bath that runs along Lake Ontario in the West downtown core of the city. It’s a lovely area, and because it’s so crowded you can’t really race along on a bike.

Since these bikes are designed to be ridden on slightly rough terrain like a sandy beach they’d be perfect because there is a large beach area beside Toronto’s board walk too.

The bikes are priced reasonably too. That low rider that I pictured above is only $155 dollars, and the yellow womans beach cruiser that I showed above and linked to is only $95. I’d actually swear that the prices have gone down since I last looked at this website. Even better if they did.

The bikes are shipped 80% assembled so there won’t be much work for you to do once your new bike arrives. They ship using FedEx and they do ship worldwide so no matter where you are you could be a proud owner of a beach cruiser.
