Sometimes I think it would be nice to move to a warm climate

August 30, 2007 by Tricia

Living in a cool climate I suppose it’s not all that surprising that many of my fellow Canadians tend to either winter in or retire to warm climates such as Florida. I’m not old enough to retire, but I know in the cold dark days of winter I sometimes think about how nice it would be to live in an area that doesn’t have snow and ice.

If you’re thinking about moving to Florida you might want to visit the Broward county real estate website. The site has listings for several areas of Broward county. Houses and condos are available in a variety of price ranges to suit any budget.

If I were thinking of moving to Florida I think the Broward County area might be a nice place to settle. After all, there’s plenty of great places and things to do in Broward. One could visit Greater Fort Lauderdale, the Blue Wave Beaches, Hollywood Beach, several great golf courses, Butterfly World, Thoroughbred racing at Gulfstream Park and many other lovely areas and parks to visit. It sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?

Visit the Broward County Real Estate website to learn more about their offerings.

Want to date a Geek?

August 27, 2007 by Tricia

Are you a geek or what some might consider a nerd? Have you had trouble finding a date using traditional big name dating services in the past? It’s no wonder if you have, as these sites don’t tend to match people by their interests or personalities as much as they do by looks.

Why don’t you visit Geek 2 Geek – Geek dating and give them a try?

At Geek 2 Geek you can list all of your interests and I mean all the ones that would be considered nerdy and that you’d likely not be able to select on a traditional dating site.

The creator of Geek 2 Geek, Spencer Koppel, started the service in 2004 when his daughter Laina was having trouble finding men with similar interests to date. Father and daughter created a set of profile questions that would be suitable for geeks. They also developed a scoring system that would match people according to what each person had listed as their most important dating criteria.

Geek 2 Geek has been making successful matches with their unique scoring system. Why not give them a try. You can sign up for a free account, create a profile and explore the features.

The weekend before last my husbands brother came to visit from Chicago. We had a very busy few days and there were a lot of people in our house!

On the Sunday we went to the beach with some friends. It was raining, but it was such a hot day we didn’t mind and we also didn’t expect it to rain for very long. It turned out that it rained for at least three hours but we still spent some time sitting at the beach club, had some drinks and had an enjoyable time.

When the weather cleared up in the late afternoon my husband and his brother went for a dip in the lake. They had a nice swim and as you can see they appeared to be pretty happy when they emerged from the lake.

Actually, my husband gets along with his brother quite well and he’s always very happy when he gets a chance to see his brother, so I had a happy husband that week.

Our little hummingbird

August 24, 2007 by Tricia

As some of you know I have a very nice garden. I’ve been working on it for five years. Unfortunately I’d only seen a hummingbird once in my garden – about two years ago. Ever since then I put in more flowers that hummingbirds like and added another hummingbird feeder to the garden.

Well I finally had some success. Last Sunday I was in the kitchen with my husband when I turned towards the kitchen window and Oh Oh Oh there was a beautiful little hummingbird trying to figure out how to get a drink from the hummingbird feeder.

These aren’t the best photos since I took them so quickly through a not so clean kitchen window, but here they are:

Approaching the feeders drink station:

Ready to have a drink? Or maybe about to leave?

Hummingbird 25

Do you see hummingbirds in your yard? For all I know this one’s been visiting all summer and this is just the first time I’ve been lucky enough to see it.
