How was your weekend

May 23, 2011 by Tricia

It’s the end of a long weekend here in Canada and all around neighborhood I can hear people letting off Fireworks for Victoria Day. It’s driving my dog nuts! Try telling an excited Lab that all those noises are normal. Uh huh.

On Saturday the weather was really nice so my husband and I ran around and got a few things done and did some work outside the house, however the weather wasn’t so nice on Sunday or today so we ended up being stuck indoors most of the time. We did try to get outside for a bit earlier today but it suddenly got windy and the roses that we were working near started whipping into us and injuring us. I guess we can’t win! LOL

There wasn’t even anything good on TV on the weekend. For some reason a couple of the channels that I like to watch during non-holidays love to run reruns of old shows over and over again – just one show – no variety for a whole day or even a whole weekend on a long weekend .. so if you’re stuck at home and there isn’t much on TV it can be bad. I think one of the shows had something about a Texas truck accident lawyer I sort of fell asleep at that point. Yep .. exciting long weekend for me – huh.

I guess we would have been out doing more interesting things but I feel down the stairs last week and really hurt myself. I bruised my lower back, my left buttock, my left leg and left arm and my neck and even my jaw hurt – after a week. So I’m not in very good shape. I think it will take me about another two weeks to get over that fall.

How was your weekend? Better than mine I hope!

A beautiful Sunny Day for some Yard work

May 21, 2011 by Tricia

It seemed like everyone in our neighborhood that didn’t go away for the long weekend must have been out cutting their grass and doing yard work today. I couldn’t believe how much the neighborhood smelled of fresh cut grass. It was kind of strange .. and strong smelling. LOL

One nice thing about our neighborhood is that we all kind of take turns helping each other out with the yard work or lawn care. Early this morning one of our neighbors from a few houses down cut his grass, our grass and the two neighbors lawns between our houses. Nice huh? Especially nice for the older lady on social security benefits between us because she just can’t get out to do yard work any more at all. We do her lawn when we’re cutting our grass too.

It’s supposed to rain tomorrow so we enjoyed the nice weather today. It got up to 27 Celsius (80.6 F)- the warmest day so far! If the weatherman is wrong and it doesn’t rain too much tomorrow maybe we’ll go to a garden center and get some annual plants for our garden and do some planting.

What are you doing this long weekend? It’s Victoria Day weekend here in Canada and Memorial Day in the USA.

I love this time of year

May 11, 2011 by Tricia

I love this time of year. The weather is just starting to get nice after a long cool winter and now the trees are beginning to fill in with leaves and flowers are beginning to bloom – I can’t imagine who wouldn’t love this time of year after taking a good look outside on a nice day.

My garden is just lovely. It changes almost daily. I bought one of those digital camcorders back in February just so that I could tape the silly things that my dog does and record how my garden changes throughout the year … I guess I should be out there taping daily or at least taking pictures at this time of year because every day I look out my window and new flowers are blooming or something else has grown or new leaves have opened up. It’s just constantly changing. It’s beautiful.

Do you enjoy Spring too? Do you love seeing things green up and begin to bloom as much as I do?

Strange emails and twitter followers

May 11, 2011 by Tricia

I’m starting to think that my online profile or image doesn’t match my real life image … or else something strange is happening. Why … well … over the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed an increase in Twitter followers who are poker players, gamers or single partier types and now I’m getting emails for singles websites like free online dating and things like that.

That is so not who I am … nor who my online profile makes me out to be or so I thought … so I don’t know why I started getting all these new types of followers and emails. It’s really strange.

Do you ever get Twitter followers or probably even more likely emails that totally don’t suit who you are or your interests?

My favorite organic store

May 5, 2011 by Tricia

A couple of weekends ago my parents in law came in to Toronto for a visit. They stayed all weekend. They were here to visit my husbands sick uncle but they also spent time with my husband and I.

During my in-laws stay we took my mother in law and my husbands Aunt to this store where we buy all of our various multivitamins and other health foods called The Healthy Planet. My Mother in Law always visits The Big Carrot whenever she comes to Toronto so we knew she’s love this new store too.

While we were there I mentioned that I love there organic chocolate covered ginger and my mother in law took it upon herself to buy a huge bag of them for me .. I mean huge … it must have been three pounds! You don’t buy a chocoholic a big bag of chocolates like that! I hate to say this but there’s gone! My husband had some, but I ate the bulk of them – three or four a day and ta da … there gone.

Anyway .. do you have a favorite store in your city that you go to for buying bulk or organic food and vitamins?
