Finding a Father’s Day gift

June 16, 2011 by Tricia

My husband is trying to figure out what to get his father for Fathers Day. Yes I know, it’s a little bit late to be searching for a present, but not too late!

His father doesn’t have a lot of hobbies so that doesn’t help. He does love hockey though, so we might get him some hockey DVDs – like classic games and things like that.

My husbands brother was suggesting that we think about getting him a radar detector – maybe a whistler radar detector. I’m not sure if he’d use it or not. We might get it … I’ll have to check it out a bit more though. Have any of you tried using one of these? Did you like it, were you happy with it?

Battling my roses for our new fence

June 7, 2011 by Tricia

I barely have any skin left on my arms! Why? Well … I’ve spent quite a bit of time in the last few days moving my big rose branches around in my backyard as my neighbors have a new fence put in. Actually I guess as we have a new fence put in, because it’s the fence we share that’s causing me to have to do all this work!

The fence is pretty much done now. I’m not sure that I like it, but there’s not much I can do about it now. There were two guys working for the fencing company and one of them was fairly helpful and polite to us when we asked questions but the other guy was a real jerk. He definitely should never talk to customers!

If I wasn’t so upset by the whole fence going in situation (our neighbors just kind of thrust the fence thing upon us instead of asking us what we wanted and letting us be part of the decision making process) I would have enjoyed watching the nice guy work. He was fairly good looking and I guess building fences helps build muscles .. or else he used testosterone gel because he sure had a well developed body! Me on the other hand …. as I said in the beginning .. I probably didn’t look so good covered in scratches from all those rose branches! It’s going to take a week to heal.

I think I’m going to try to sleep in tomorrow if I can. I’m so tired. I’ve been working outside for three days in a row on all this fence and garden stuff … I’m exhausted.

A character in the Jewelery field

June 4, 2011 by Tricia

I always see these commercials on TV with this guy Russel Oliver. He`s known in Toronto as the Gold Man or really in his latest commercials I`d say he`s the silver man. LOL

I used to be in the jewelery trade and I knew this man many years ago … not well, and I wouldn’t say that he had a great reputation with true jewelery because he`s a cash for gold type rather than a real jeweler himself … but his commercials sometimes make me laugh. They`re stupid and silly … but I find them funny at times. I think kind of knowing the guy helps too.

Have you ever known a character in your fiend of business that`s gone on to make silly television commercials for their business. It`s kind of strange!

Who needs an expensive gym membership when they have an active excited dog!

May 28, 2011 by Tricia

I was just outside on the front lawn talking to our next door neighbors. We were trying to talk with them about the fence that they are putting in since one part of the new fence is on our shared property line.

I brought my Labrador Retriever outside with me when I was talking with my neighbors – just on her leash, not with her prong collar as I usually do and man, did my arms ever get a work out with all her pulling! If I did that for half an hour a day I wouldn’t need to take any muscle building supplements ever! LOL

You see my neighbor was doing some work on the foundation of his house and he’d pulled out a rose bush and cleared some maple twigs that had landed on his lawn and my dog could see them from where we were talking so she kept pulling and pulling while we talked … she also kept pulling whenever someone would walk by with their dog. So I got quite the workout. Who needs an expensive gym membership when they have an active excited dog!

So much running around to do tomorrow – not fair

May 28, 2011 by Tricia

I’ve got so much to do tomorrow.

This weekend there’s something going on in Toronto called Open Doors. Since I had a lot of work to do on the computer I got my husband to agree that we’d do Open Doors tomorrow. Of course that means that we’ll really be running around!

I also have to get some shopping done. That includes getting some grocery shopping as well as getting some Beads for a kids party in a week. Stores close earlier on Sundays around here as well so I have to get most everything done by about 5:30p.m..

I also still need to write back to my brothers and sister about setting up video chat. I have no idea how to do that, but I guess I’m going to be learning in the next day or so because my family wants to start video chatting. Should be interesting!

Busy busy busy!
