Time to start thinking about booking a hotel in Vegas

September 12, 2007 by Tricia

I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to go to Las Vegas in November. I’m really not sure if I’ll be going on not. Last week, the company that’s holding the blogging convention that I’m supposed to go to really riled up a lot of bloggers. As a result of what happened and a lot of other things that have disappointed me in regards to this particular company in the last while I’m just not sure that I’m willing to go now.

Having said that … if I do decide to go I’ll have to figure out which of the many Las Vegas Hotels I’ll want to stay in!

There’s so many! We’ll need one near the convention center or one that’s at least close to transportation to the convention center.

I’ve visited the site realtravel.com as they have listings for Las Vegas Hotels complete with price comparisons, descriptions and even maps of the hotels location. They even list nearby attractions, restaurants and even other hotels close to the one you’re looking at at the time.

Considering that I’ve never been to Las Vegas I think this is a great site as far as getting a general idea of where each of the Las Vegas Hotels are situated compared to the area that you plan to visit. Naturally with it’s price comparison features I’ll be able to find the best deals on hotel rooms as well.

I’m going to keep this site in mind while I try to decide whether or not I’m going to Vegas in November.

Do you grow … Grass? I do

Blue Fescue grass that is. What were you thinking? That I only grow flowers? Nah … I grow grasses too. The grasses are sometimes the first plants to green up in my garden in early spring and the last to die down when winter arrives.

I believe this is Festuca glauca ‘Elijah Blue’ – It’s common name would be Elijah blue Fescue. Its a cool season, clump forming grass with power blue narrow foliage that grows about 4 to 8 inches tall. Mine, with it’s flowers is taller than that – perhaps closer to a foot in height.

This is a fairly easy grass to grow in the garden along side perennials or annuals. It can be grown in full sun to light shade in well draining soil. This grass is also drought and heat tolerant so it can stand some abuse.

Do you grow grass?

The baseball crowd loved the music

Last Friday my husband and I and pretty much the rest of my family went to a Blue Jays versus the Seattle Mariners baseball game here in Toronto.

It was a great game. The Blue Jays won of course – after making several home runs! Oh and some of the cast of Heroes attended the game too and I was able to get some photos of them. That was interesting. I love that show.

After the game, when we were walking along the walkway leading from the stadium to Front Street we came across a man playing the accordion. I guess the crowd was in a jovial mood because as people passed the musician they broke out into dance.

I think that’s the musician right behind the man in blue who appears to be having a great time dancing to the music.

Oh and on Sunday and Monday we went to the beach. There was a live band at one of the bars we walked by on the beach and I can’t remember what song they were playing, but they sounded just like the band they were copying. Hmmm who knows maybe they were the real band?

On the beach people were playing volleyball, swimming, sunbathing, flying kites and even I’m sure I saw someone with a model rocket. I certainly hope they didn’t set it off at the beach. It was crowded!

The Toronto Film Festival

September 8, 2007 by Tricia

Those of you that follow these types of events probably already know that the Toronto Film Festival has begun once again. It began on Thursday evening and runs through until September 15th.

I’m hoping to attend a few films and I’m definitely going to go downtown over the weekend in the hopes of seeing some celebrities. I’d love to get some photos of my own for my Celebrity Scoop Blog. I’m sure it will be a madhouse downtown, but it should be interesting!

Anyone planning to attend?

I think he threw it out!

September 5, 2007 by Tricia

I seem to write about my food cravings on this blog. I don’t know why, but I do.

The latest craving is popcorn. Something I can’t eat due to my Crohns. Just trust me, it makes it worse. Way worse.

Anyway, last night I was determined to have some popcorn so I went looking for my popcorn machine. Wouldn’t you know it I couldn’t find it.

Obviously we don’t use it very often with me not tolerating popcorn or even corn very well, but every once in a while, like once a year, I allow myself to have a tiny taste.

I have the sneaking suspicion that my husband either gave the popcorn machine away or threw it out just to keep me from eating this dangerous delicacy.

I’ll have a look around in our basement just in case we stored it down there due to lack of space in the kitchen, but I don’t think I’ll find it. It’s gone. So naturally without my craving satisfied I’m really jonesing for a handful of popcorn.
