No more business loans for me!

June 18, 2007 by Tricia

Have you ever applied for any kind of Loan? Unless you are still young and living at home with your parents you probably have faced the prospect of getting a loan of one type or another by now, haven’t you?

Lately we’ve been lucky, other than two Personal secured loans and a car loan we haven’t had to go through the process of applying for a loan for some time.

Can you believe that the very first loan that I ever applied for in my life was not a Personal Loan, but a business loan? Talk about nerve racking!

It’s one thing to come up with reasons why you need a personal loan – perhaps to pay off your tuition or to renovate your home, but coming up with a business plan to basically sell the idea of your business to a loan officer is a whole other prospect!

When I was just 20 years old, and already a jeweller working for a private company I decided to open up my own business. I had most of the skills and contacts that I needed to make my business a success and I was going to share office space with my soon to be former boss. All I needed was the funding to buy the very expensive machinery that I needed to get started! The most expensive piece of equiptment was a machine that would make most of my money, but it was also a machine that I had to teach myself how to use and maintain.

Before applying for my loan I was sure to find another trades person in the jewelery trade who could help teach me how to use the diamond cutting machine that I wanted to purchase. See, I thought of everything. I found someone to teach me how to use the machine and I knew how long it would take me to learn how to cut designs into jewelery when I went to the loan officer and applied for my loan.

I must have done a good job of selling myself as I did end up securing my loan. However, as a result of all that prep and the stress of starting my own business I don’t really care for the whole process of applying for loans. Securing a personal loan is much easier – I’ll stick to that type of loan if I ever need money again!

Do you have a harrowing loan story?

I’ve got a craving

June 18, 2007 by Tricia

Do you ever get a craving for a particular food that just won’t go away?

I started to get a craving for something really tasty on Friday. I didn’t really know what I was craving. I kept picturing tasty chicken and zesty salad ingredients, but I was thinking that I wanted it more in the form of a wrap.

I did end up getting one of the new wrap sandwiches from Kentucky Fried Chicken that night but quickly discovered that that wasn’t really what I’d been craving.

Now I’m starting to think that what I really want is a taco or a burito. Something juicy, zesty and filling. Of course I just saw a Taco Bell commercial so perhaps that’s why I think my several days long craving is really centered on taco’s now.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Perhaps some other food that I haven’t thought of yet that fits the bill?

Help for Troubled Teens

June 18, 2007 by Tricia

If you are a parent or if you know a teen and they’ve started to display troubling behavior you might want to visit HelpforTroubledTeens.net.

I think most people realize that being a teen isn’t easy. We’ve all been there right? Teens go through a lot of changes. Teens have to deal with everything from changing schools as they go through the school system, making friends, peer pressure, body image, education and whatever might be happening with their home life.

It’s a hard time and some teens don’t deal with all these changes well, or they begin to experiment in dangerous ways.

Help for Troubled Teens was developed in order to provide information about topics that teens struggle with such as boarding schools, experimenting with drugs and the law and many other problems.

If you are a concerned parent you can visit the site to get more information. You can even call a toll free number to talk with a consultant who will listen to your concerns and offer suggestions that might help your troubled teen.

Visit the site for more information.

One step forward, two steps back?

June 18, 2007 by Tricia

I was hoping that I’d have been more productive today. I got up early, after not much sleep, because I had an early doctors appointment. When I got home I was feeling my lack of sleep but I pushed on and got a few things done – the best of which being getting all of our bills paid.

I hate paying bills. It’s not because we don’t have the money to pay the bills … it’s just that I don’t like paying them. Probably because I think we’re being charged way too much for many of the things that I just paid for this morning – cable, electricity … both have doubled since the first year we were in our house!

A while after that a wave of tiredness hit me that I couldn’t ignore. It didn’t help that I wasn’t feeling all that well again. I had an awful week last week, but surprisingly I suddenly started feeling better around 5 pm on Saturday and managed to get a lot of gardening work done over the weekend. I must have over did it though because I’m back to feeling crummy. Not as bad as last week though! Small blessing I guess.

If this keeps up I’m not sure how I’ll ever get anything done. I must start feeling better – and getting better sleep.

Shopping online for furniture

June 18, 2007 by Tricia

Do you shop online?

I never used to, but in the past two years I have found that I have been shopping online more and more often, and for a variety of items.

The reason why I’m bringing this up is because I’m interested in redecorating some of the rooms in our house once we finish our renovations. Considering that I’ve had great success purchasing a number of other items online, why not try my hand a purchasing furniture as well?

If you’ve considered this too, you might want to take a moment and visit GreatPricedFurniture.com. They have a large selection of Furniture for every room in the house. You’ll find furnishings for the bedroom, kitchen, living room, dining room, babies nurseries and the home office, specific furnishings for children, as well as artwork to decorate your walls.

I’ve found this site very easy to navigate. Plus, when you select a type of furniture that you’d like to look at, perhaps bedroom furniture, you’ll be taken to a page that breaks everything down into sub-categories with thumbnail images of the type of furnishings in that category.

The bedrooms in our home are very small and I’ve been trying to think of ways to make them look more spacious yet continue to be fully functional. Browsing through the site I just found a section on daybeds. I’d considered daybeds in the past but hadn’t thought of them again for quite a while. Now I see that Great Priced Furniture has three whole pages of daybeds to choose from!

Now that’s something you don’t see in a retail store. Retail stores usually only have a small selection of each type of item. The beauty of shopping online is that you can browse through a stores whole inventory.

The prices of the daybeds look to be quite reasonable and they, just like all the rest of the furnishings sold at this online store, are made by brand name manufactures and are of high quality.

Being in Canada I always check online stores to see if they will deliver to my area and I was pleased to see that Great Priced Furniture does deliver to Canada and international addresses as well as across the continental US.

The store also offers a 30 day money back guarantee.

All in all this seems to be a great online store from which to purchase new furniture for your home. Visit the store and see what you think.
