The Traffic lull is over – I think

August 21, 2007 by Tricia

Well, looking at my site stats for yesterday it seems that most people are back from their holidays, back to work or back in school. Why do I think that? Well, my stats are up. All of my husband and I’s sites had a lot more visitors yesterday than we’ve had most days over the last couple of weeks.

It’s not like there was a huge drop in site visitors, but enough that I noticed. Fewer comments, and lower visitor numbers when I check my stats.

Have you noticed that your site or sites had a slight drop in traffic through maybe mid July until at least the end of last week?

I’ll be keeping an eye on my stats over the next week, but I think I’m correct. I know that a lot of schools opened up this week so the kids are back to school. Moms that stay at home might have a bit more time on their hands for visiting blogs, and with luck the advertisers will be back and creating more work for all of us too.

I might try some natural health products for my Crohn’s

August 21, 2007 by Tricia

I used to be very interested in natural health products. In fact we still have a number of different supplements and various single vitamins in our cupboard. Unfortunately they’re very old so I should probably get rid of them.

Considering that I’ve got Crohn’s disease and my health has been poor over the last couple of years I have considered trying some natural health supplements again. I know that there are some that are said to be quite helpful with irritable bowel (not what I have) and inflammatory bowel conditions as well as digestive disorders.

In fact, Oasis Advanced Wellness carries some of the natural health products that I’ve heard are helpful such as digestive enzymes, Cat’s Claw (TOA-Free Cat’s Claw) and they even have some natural pain management supplements called MSM Supreme and Zymitol that might be worth trying.

I mean if you’ve been reading my blogs you know I’ve been having a very hard time. It’s worth trying everything possible when you are this uncomfortable.

We really need to replace our broken mailbox

August 21, 2007 by Tricia

I feel like a broken record. We need a new mailbox so bad and I haven’t managed to get out and get a new one. We’ve need a new mailbox for oh at least six months. The hinge on ours doesn’t work very well anymore. It’s noisy and stays open most of the time. When you try to shut the mailbox it almost feels like the lid is going to break.

I found a company that sells a number of different types of mailboxes online. They have everything from residential mailboxes to commercial mailboxes. We’ve got a small house and virtually no front yard so I need something that suits a small house.

at Mailboxixchange.com I really shouldn’t have trouble finding what I need. They’ve apparently got over 1500 mailboxes!

I’d love to get a mailbox that stands on a post, but as I said we’ve got a very small front yard and I don’t think that style would really suit our house or even our neighborhood. The mailbox we currently have is a wall mount style and I think that we’ll stick with that type if only I can find something that I really like.

I’ve barely scratched the surface browsing the site, but so far I like what I see as there’s some very nice styles of mailboxes. If you’re looking for a new mailbox visit the site and see if you can find something that suits your home.

Planning our kitchen remodel

August 21, 2007 by Tricia

I want to bounce an idea off of you.

We’re planning our kitchen renovation. The reno won’t happen for a while, but it’s good to plan.

Our kitchen is fairly small. Maybe 18 feet long by 10 feet wide. Since our kitchen is on the small side, and since we tend to eat either in the living room, I’m ashamed to say while watching TV, or in the dinning room at a very nice dinning room table we really don’t need a kitchen table.

I have two ideas.

One is to knock out part of the wall between the kitchen and dinning room. It would end up looking like an open rectangular window with a nice counter on it. I thought perhaps that we could set that area up as a breakfast nook with bar stools in front of it. We could sit there and eat, or if we were entertaining a guest or two could sit on a bar stool and talk to me while I work in the kitchen.

My other idea is to leave the kitchen walls intact, but to get a cupboard, perhaps on wheels, that would most often be near the kitchen window but that could be used moved around the kitchen and used as extra counter space if necessary. I guess it would be a movable kitchen island? I could even have some really nice folding chairs that I could store in the corner of the room and if we wanted to we could sit at this nice cupboard/ kitchen island if we wanted to.

What do you think of those ideas? If you had a small kitchen and were faced with those choices which one would you pick?

Dressing up animals and people too!

August 21, 2007 by Tricia

Dog in rain gear

Don’t you find it strange how people love to dress their dogs and cats and sometimes even other pets in clothing? As if they’re trying to make their pet more human? I mean, does a dog really need a rain coat? Really?

I can see the little booties that people buy for their dogs feet. I live in a cold climate and our city used to put salt pellets on the roadways in the winter to melt the snow and ice. Now they use something artificial and more environmentally friendly, but still, those pellets can cut up a dogs paws. So yeah, I can understand the doggie booties, but that’s about it.

Then, when we want to dress up and have some fun we often rent or buy animal costumes. Isn’t that funny. We make our pets look human yet we want to look like animals.

Isn’t that strange?
