This time of year is expensive for parents

October 4, 2011 by Tricia

I’ve always wanted kids but I think there’s one thing I’ve lucked out on by not having them yet .. this time of year seems to be mighty expensive! All of my friends that have kids have been spending tons of money in the last two months getting their kids ready for school.

My friends with kids have been buying school clothes, school supplies, school uniforms and school text books and so on. I’m sure they’d love to find ways to save money at this time of year.

Actually, one of my friends was talking about using something called scholastic coupons to save some money. I’d never heard of this before .. but then I don’t have kids so I never look for this kind of money saving coupon I suppose. Have you ever used or heard of scholastic coupons to save money on school supplies for your kids?

I’ll be thinking of those of you that are parents! Hopefully the spending that you need to do is slowing down!

Nice post ! I don’t have to spend a lot of money , because my kids know that we have to save for their future .

Not just for parents! I’m and aunt and step-grandmother and we support our extended family’s total of 6 kids by buying magazines, cookie dough, sally foster gift items, etc. We just spend $100 on magazine subscriptions we don’t really need. This seems to be the big fund-raising time of year, though I agree what we spend is small potatoes compared to parents.
