Bringing our dog to Woofstock this weekend

June 11, 2010 by Tricia

We’re going to have a busy weekend! Tomorrow we plan on going to WoofStock. It’s the largest festival for dogs in North America.

If you’re in the Toronto area and you have a dog or you’re seriously thinking about getting one then this is an event you should not miss. This will be our third year going to WoofStock.

It’s in Downtown Toronto near the St. Lawrence market. They close off part of Front street and 100’s of vendors set up booths on the street. It’s always crowded with people and their dogs and there’s lots of freebies too. Last year we were given several different types of dog treats, dog foods and even dog toys. It’s the only place where I’ve been able to find a certain liver treat that my dog just goes nuts for.

This year I managed to get our Dog Midnight and my name on the Woofstock VIP list. I’ve never been in the VIP lounge, but it sounds good. I guess we’ll get further discounts on some products and might get some VIP swag.

Each year we come away with bags of food, treats and bones for our dog. I also take lots of pictures of my dog and of other peoples dogs – especially if the dogs are dressed in cute outfits.

The only thing I don’t like about Woofstock is that it’s always so crowded and it always seems to be a hot hot day whenever we go. Of course I don’t mind seeing some of the guys with their dogs who have got to be taking a body building supplement or something. All those muscles. Yum.

On Sunday we might go to Luminato to see some performances or live music. Of course everything depends upon the weather – it’s supposed to rain this weekend. Figures – just when we have major plans to be outside most of the weekend too.

What are you doing this weekend? Will I see you at Woofstock?

We finally have new neighbors

June 5, 2010 by Tricia

Well it looks like we finally have peranent new neighbors. Good bye to renters next door – hello new home owners!

The new people arrived at the house next door earlier today to start cleaning up and I suppose to prepare for their move.

I only met the man as the wife was out when we went over to say hello and give them some desserts from a local bakery as a welcome. He seemed nice and my husband had met his wife earlier in the day and said she was nice too … so, so far so good! Fingers crossed anyway!

The man was dressed in a head to toe white suit when I met him … one of those suits you can buy at Home Depot or a similar store for painting or to protect your clothes when you’re doing big jobs. He looked hot and sweaty. Maybe they could market those work suits as a new kind of fat burner because I’m sure that’s what it does!

We didn’t get around to asking the new neighbors when they might be moving in, but we got the feeling it will be soon. That’s good – I hate having an empty house next to us.

Most Shocking!

June 5, 2010 by Tricia

I’m stuck at home today all alone. My husband went out of town to do some work at his parents house and since it’s an overnight visit I got to stay home with our dog.

So … I’m working on the computer and watching TV at the same time. Somehow I stumbled onto a show that I hadn’t seen before “Most Shocking”. I guess the station I’m watching is having a “Most Shocking” marathon or something because the show is playing one episode after another.

In general it’s not my type of show, but I’ll agree it is shocking and since I had nothing better to do today I’d guess I’d have to say I’m finding it fascinating. The show is about dramatic car accidents caught on tape, police chases and of course many many store robberies.

They even showed the liquor store robbery where a guy breaks into the liquor store though the ceiling and then gets trapped in the store. It’s a real dumb criminal story. LOL

I was amazed at the brutality of some of the robberies. Guys jumping counters and beating people over the head with crowbars only to get a small amount of cash, some snacks and in one case, I think, some weight loss drinks. It’s unbelievable.

I think I’ve seen enough brutal accidents and robberies for the day … I think I’ll channel surf and see what else is on – then I’m gone to order some food. Might as well treat myself while the hubbies away.

Looking for Guest bloggers

June 3, 2010 by Tricia

I don’t know why exactly but lately I’m having a lot of trouble keeping all my blogs up to date. Actually the amount of blogs I have is the problem. There’s just too many and not enough time in the day.

Coming up with new posts for 15+ blogs on a regular basis is a full time job. Hmmm I wonder if there’s some kind of project management software for multiple blog owners? LOL Yah, probably not.

S now I’m thinking about opening up my blogs to guest bloggers. People who can write about gardening, home appliances, home decor, home life, health etc. Topics that would fit well with this blog and a few of my other blogs.

Guest bloggers can add a short byline to the beginning or end of their post with a link to their main site and up to one link to one of their sites (if relevant to the topic of the article) within the post.

If you’re interested in guest blogging please feel free to leave a comment on this post or use the contact form to get in touch with me. I’d prefer people that currently have blogs that they write in regularly so that I can see samples of their writing style. Thanks!

What a snore!

June 2, 2010 by Tricia

My husband has one of the worst snores that I’ve ever heard. I think only my dad could beat it.

Lucky for me I haven’t had to endure his snore very often over the last few years because my husband was diagnosed with sleep apnea and now he wears a bipap mask. He says he sleeps better now and so do I without that awful snoring.

Unfortunately, over the last few months I’ve noticed that my husband is snoring a little more often again. I don’t think his mask is fitting as well as it used to so it makes this weird hissing Darth Vader kind of sound. He’s also been doing this weird thing with his lips – it sounds like he’s puckering up and blowing bubbles. So even though he’s sleeping ok, my sleep has gone downhill because I can’t stand the snores and other weird mask sounds.

I suggested that my husband contact the company that set him up with his bipap machine for another mask fitting. Maybe it’s changed shape? I’m sure that will help.

I’ve also been wondering if the renewed snoring might be allergy related. Both my husband and I are allergic to dust mites and my husband complains of a stuffy nose quite often lately. Maybe I should look into getting some allergy bedding? It might help.

Do you have a husband (or wife) who snores really bad? How do you survive?
