We just found out recently that my niece will be getting married at the end of the year. She had been planning to get married next June, but her fiance joined the armed forces and he’ll be shipping out in January (I think) so they pushed the wedding date up.
So now I’m trying to figure out what to get them for a wedding gift. Of course, we’ve had a lot of financial problems this year so while I want to get them something very nice I also have to try to keep the expenses down.
At least it’s a good time of year to be looking for a gift since there will be lots of Christmas sales coming up! No Black Friday sales here in Canada of course – since we already had Thanksgiving in October (and we don’t have a big sale associated with it unlike our US counterparts).
They are just starting out so I guess they need just about everything … well everything but Couture Jewelry since my niece grew up with a mom and aunt me) in the jewelery trade. LOL
Any good wedding gift ideas for a couple just starting out?

Photo frames are always a nice gift. Newlyweds have a ton of pictures they like to display.

I recommend a prepaid divorce attorney. I mean 50% of marriages end in divorce, so you have a 50% chance of getting the perfect gift.
(See this is why I don’t get invited to weddings)
Or maybe you should just get a nice blender.

How about something with family ties like a recipe book with handed down recipes, or an album of heirloom family pictures, or even an address book of family address and phone numbers? Also with your gardening background you could document your gardening secrets and suggestions and include some of your favorite seeds.
These are things I have had to call my parents for and wish I had. Quite economical and priceless to the couple. You can’t get this kind of gift anywhere except from the relative willing to give time and effort. They definitely won’t get duplicates of this one!
