My Labrador Retriever, Midnight, who’s almost two years old, had developed a fetish. She loves cardboard and won’t leave it alone!
Any time we have some cardboard around – say an empty box for a 12 pack of pop, an empty cereal box or any kind of thick paper she starts jumping around because she wants to take it back to her doggy bed so that she can tear it up!
It’s kind of funny, but it’s gotten to the point where we can’t carry things around without her trying to grab it out of our hands. Now I’m afraid to take her into the pet store too … they have cardboard displays and I think she’ll try to eat them! LOL
Aren’t dogs fun! They’re nuts!
So how do I get her off this cardboard fetish? Actually she’s not too bad. If we say no she won’t keep trying for it … but still it’s a pain when you’re trying to carry something and at first she’s jumping at you. I mean, she’s a 70 lb dog!
What to do?
Our daschund had this thing for toilet paper. We could never leave the toilet unlocked. He would run in and pull the toilet paper and run all over the house…

All dogs go through the sme thing sometime… Just put your foot down and make him understand that this kinda behavior will not be tolerated…
