Several of my roses are either blooming again or are starting to bud in preparation for perhaps the last blooms of the season.
Many of my roses never seems to get the message that the weather is cooling and winter is coming so they continue to bloom right into November until the first snow falls.
There are some that bloom around this time of year and then set rosehips. I love the look of Rosehips. They remind me of small crabapples. I’ll have to take some photos of them when they start to form on my roses this year.
Roses like The Fairy fall into the bloom until covered in snow category!
Perhaps this year when it does start to cool down and we start to get frost or perhaps a short lived snow fall I’ll try to remember to bring my camera out and take photos of the frost or snow covered frozen roses. They are quite pretty when they are either covered in frost or dusted with snow.
I know I shouldn’t be talking about winter yet. There’s still time before it arrives. I guess it’s just because it’s been cooling down so much earlier this year that thoughts of winter are upon me. Maybe it’s the huge rainstorm we’re expecting today too … remnants of hurricane Ike … Yikes! Parts of this city are going to get flooded! Hopefully not this area though.
Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information. GTS participants remember to check in at As the Garden Grows each week so that we’ll know you made a new post!

I too grew The Fairy rose and loved it for the abundance of blossoms.
Rain again here from Ike later today. Hopefully no flooding.
