Thousands of coupons to be found at the Deal Locker

August 11, 2007 by Tricia

If you’re on a tight budget I’m sure you have a keen eye for great deals. Even if you aren’t on a budget there’s nothing more satisfying than knowing you saved some money when you’ve made a purchase. Am I right?

If I am then you’re going to love the Deal Locker. This is a site where you can find coupon codes for tens of thousands of items. There’s also listings for savings at thousands of well known stores.

Considering that there are so many free online coupons and printable coupons listed at the Deal Locker it would be a shame not to visit the site before you begin shopping. Wouldn’t it be disappointing to find out after you’ve spent your money that you could have saved an extra 15%?

When you visit the Deal Locker site you can type in the name of the item or store that you’re looking for, or you can use the tabs across the top to search by store or category. It can take as little as a few seconds to find a great deal and begin saving money.

One thing that I really like about the Deal Locker is that it’s interactive. If you sign up for a free account you can add coupon codes that you’ve found on the internet and you can also rate coupons that you use on the site as to whether they worked properly or not. It’s certainly nice to search through the site and know that the majority of the coupons on the site have been rated by fellow users and that they are most often marked as having worked well.

As you probably already know Chris and I have been busy renovating our house. Soon … I hope … we’ll be thinking about purchasing new furniture and other home decor type of items to add that extra touch to our newly renovated rooms. So I decided to take a look at Deal Locker to see if I could find any Home Decor coupons or even some home improvement coupons and I found several coupons that I can use now or in the near future when the renovations are finished.

I was able to find Ace Hardware coupons and coupon codes for other well known hardware or handyman type home improvement stores, and home decor stores.

All in all I was quite pleased by how easy it was to find some coupons that I could use. I’m in Canada and yes there are listings for Canadian stores, US stores, as well as stores in the UK, Germany and even Australia.

Visit the Deal Locker. I’m sure you’ll be pleased by what you find. I know I was! I’ve bookmarked the site already.

Showy Canna Tropicana

This weeks theme is Rows

Canna Tropicana Leaf

What other tropical leafy plant has more rows in it’s colorful leaves than a Canna Tropicana? None that I can think of!

I love this plant. It’s foliage is so vibrant that it’s a pleasure to grow in the garden. You can brighten up a patio or an empty space in your garden bed with one of these lovely plants.

It’s flowers are just as showy. None of my cannas have begun to bloom yet this year. They are being very slow for some reason. I’m sure they’ll bloom soon though.

Too many eyeballs

August 11, 2007 by Tricia

I’m feeling shy.

I was just checking the stats for my main blog Tricia’s Musings and I saw all these hits coming from one particular blogspot blog. It turns out that it’s a popular blog written by Ann Althouse. The hits were coming from her post titled “Gender difference in the blogosphere… blah blah blah…”. I’m purposely not linking to the site or post because as I said I’m feeling shy.

The post is a rant about Ellen Goodman, a political journalist and her statement that it’s mainly men making up the political blogesphere.

In the comment section one person brought up the fact that there are a couple of highly trafficked and highly watched female bloggers at the top of the Truth Laid Bear’s ecosystem. One of them is me. Well that comment brought a flood of visitors to my site!

I’ve been bouncing around on the list from 7 to 9th place for the majority of this year and when this comment was written I’d fallen to 10th place. I’m currently at 12th place and no longer a “higher being”. :

This is one of the laziest columns I’ve read in a long time. Goodman takes the trouble to cite only one female political blog, the “funny and bracing Feministing,” steadfastly refuses to recognize that two of the most widely-read blogs of all, according to the TTLB Ecosystem, are authored by women: Michelle Malkin (number 2 overall), and Tricia of Tricia’s Musings (#10). Tricia’s apparently apolitical; I’d never heard of her before today. But two of the top three blogs are by women ….

Ok, I knew it was a pretty big thing to be that high on the list at Truth Laid Bear. I mean this is the site that the president of the USA’s people check to find out what’s happening on the net and who’s talking about what. What I didn’t realize was that it’s so special that I’m female and near the top of that list.

Anyway, my main site has a lot of eyeballs on it right now. It has ever since I got so high up in the TTLB, but it has even more in the last day or two and I’m feeling shy as to what I post.

It figures that my site gets a bunch of new people watching it just after I did a run of “drivel” posts that don’t truly reflect what my site is about or my personality.

I know I really shouldn’t let something like this affect the way I write, but ask my husband, I can’t stand people watching me and that’s what this feels like right now. LOL

If I was really smart I’d write up a very controversial post and generate even more action out of all the extra traffic, but as the comment that I quoted says “I’m apolitical” – at least on my blog I am.

And … if I’ve been so high up in the TTLB system for the majority of the year why is my main blog still only a PR5? Most of my company on that list is PR6 and PR7 blogs! I need more links to my main site. 😉

Do you have what it takes to succeed in business?

August 10, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve done a lot of things in my life and one of them was run my own small business.

Yes, I used to be a jeweler in the jewelery trade. I won’t get into all the details of what I did right now, but I will say that there was some things I knew about running a business on my own and a lot of things that I didn’t know.

I knew my trade. I knew how to make my customers happy. Yet I didn’t know how to market myself or my business properly.

I’m certain that will more knowledge and perhaps some guidance I could have been much more successful at my business and as a result I would have made a profit.

That’s where a company such as Disrupted Horizon, the Business 3.0 Consultancy comes in.

They say:

1% of businesses know how to know what they don’t know
4% of businesses know what they don’t know
95% of businesses don’t know what they don’t know

I think I might have fallen into the 4% category with my business.

If you run a small business what percentile do you fall into?

Disruptive Horizon was created to help small businesses understand the future. How technology might change the way they do things and what direction they need to focus their business plan on now to succeed in the future.

If you were to choose to do a business consultation with Disruptive Horizon they would try to come up with some creative ideas that would maximize your future earning and companies growth opportunities.

Don’t get left behind. Visit the Disruptive Horizon site today to see what they do and take their Business 3.0 health check quiz.

My husband thinks I’m too sick for house guests

August 10, 2007 by Tricia

My brother called his brother this morning to tell him to shorten his visit at our house.

He did this because I had a terrible night. Obviously I was productive and got a lot of posting done on my sites, but I was in pain the whole time. When I finally tried to go to bed I was still in too much pain to sleep and was in fact still awake when my husband left for work at 9:30 this morning.

I slept, but got up at 2 pm so that’s not too much sleep. I’m sure that contributes to my continuous pain cycle. I think I need to actually be knocked out for several days in a row to reset my whole body.

Anyway, my husband called his brother to tell him how awful I’ve been feeling and to suggest that his visit at our house not be too long.

I feel terrible about that. I didn’t want him to tell his brother he can’t stay here long. They don’t get to see each other all that often and who am I to stop them.

As far as I’m concerned the three of them – Chris’ brother and his two teenage kids – can come and visit. If I’m not feeling well then I just won’t participate in whatever they are doing. I know my niece wanted me to go out with her on a big shopping spree, but I never really thought that would happen and now that I’m still feeling so horrible it won’t be happening, but there’s no reason to cancel or shorten their visit.

It looks like I’ll have to call Chris’ brother myself to let him know that it’s ok to visit.
