Time flies by

November 2, 2007 by Tricia

Do you remember Ziggy comics? I thought this was a comic strip from the distant past, but it looks like the comics are still being published as I found them online while searching for the term “Ziggy comics”.

I was just thinking about a small flip book that my sister gave me when I was a kid. It was of course a Ziggy comic and the theme of the booklet was ” I don’t know why I love you like I do” or something to that effect. I loved that book and I still have it somewhere in one of my drawers.

The reason I’m thinking about the book today is because the other night I got a message from a book publisher about a new children’s book that’s theme is Love. They’ll be sending me the book to look over sometime soon. The information that I got on the book reminded me of how that cute little booklet that my sister gave me as a present made me feel. Now I’m hoping that I love this new book just as much.

I was thinking that since my niece is due to have her first baby in February I might give her this new book as a gift. Well, I’d give it to her as a gift for her baby of course! It was the first thing I thought of when I knew I’d be getting the book to look over. Perhaps her child will love that book and treasure it as much as I did my little Ziggy comic booklet.

I can’t believe that my niece is even old enough to have a baby. It doesn’t seem like it was so long ago that I was just a kid myself. My niece was born when I was only 12 years old so it’s almost like I grew up with her. Geez it doesn’t even seem like it was that long ago that I got first communion invitations for her and her she is all grown up already.

Time certainly does go by quickly doesn’t it!

Bright Garden Mums

A lovely flower in the fall, chrysanthemums bring color to the autumn garden. They last quite a while in the garden. In fact, mine are only just beginning to die down now that it’s starting to get cool out.

Another thing that I like about mums is that if you cut them and bring some indoors they usually last quite a while in a vase.

Did you grow some mums this year in your garden?

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

I think pink suits this cat don’t you? Now it’s golden eyes are another story … needs another shade of pink to make a good match I think. LOL

Getting ready for our trip

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

The other night I started going over some of the things we’ll need for our trip to Vegas. I printed out our electronic airline tickets that don’t look like tickets at all (shouldn’t they?), and I printed out the information for our travel medical insurance as well. Since I have Crohn’s we definitely had to get medical insurance. I can’t imagine what would happen if I got sick and had to be hospitalized in the US without medical insurance! Scary thought, believe me!

I also went to the airlines website and found a list of all the restrictions on items that you can bring on board a plane. You know, things like containers of fluid – shampoos and such that only have 100 ml or less in them, no Swiss Army knives or nail clippers or files – that kind of stuff.

It’s not like I plan on bringing a bunch of stuff, but since we haven’t traveled anywhere by air for quite a while I want to be up on all these rules. If we traveled more often this would be a breeze!

Sometime in the next day or two I’m also going to try to remember to call our travel agency to see if I really did get our electronic airline tickets or not. They just don’t look right.

Reruns already?

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

I’m just getting around to watching some of the shows that we taped last night and I’m wondering … how many shows had reruns last night?

The CSI was a rerun. I saw that episode at least twice last year when there was nothing but reruns on … and now we’re watching Shark and I have a feeling it might be a rerun too …

What’s going on? The TV season just started and we’re already seeing reruns? I can only imagine how bad this will get in December, January and February if last year is any indication. Last year was rerun city for all of those months.
