Those As Seen On TV products

December 10, 2007 by Tricia

The other day I mentioned that I sometimes end up channel surfing late at night and end up seeing some of those as seen on tv ads and infomercials on TV.

Have you ever watched any of those commercials? Some of the products actually look like they are really good ideas and that they might make it a bit easier to get some things done around the house.

Items like the one touch jar opener might be good to have around. Back when I was a jeweler my hands were incredibly strong. I did diamond cut designs on jewelery by hand. My husband was also a jewelery but unlike me he didn’t have to grip a precision tool all day long so I think my hands were stronger than his at that time. I could open the jars he couldn’t! Now my hands aren’t so strong so it might be great to have something around for those tough jars.

Steamers – I’d love a steamer to clean my oven and to clean so many other items in my home that have tough ground in stains. I’m sure the steam would help.

What As seen on TV products have you seen advertised that you’d like to try?

I actually broke down and ordered that “Patch Perfect” grass seed hoping to fill in some of the bare spots in my back yard. Their slogan is “Spread It And Forget It”. I thought – what the heck! So I ordered it. Ten weeks later it came in.

I started reading the instructions: till up the area, remove all stones/rocks/debris, spread liberally, water every day for 10 days. Well, if I had wanted to till up the area I could have gone to the local landscape store. The commercial shows the grass growing on top of a cement block.

Oh well, the grass did come up within 10 days (even though I refused to till) so it worked out all right! I have to admit, I’ve had my eye on the can opener that opens any size can and makes the top safe to use again. ๐Ÿ™‚

I broke down once about bought that plastic cylinder that’s supposed to cook spaghetti. It was a complete waste of money.

I bought the Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter this past spring and it was totally worth it. The Aqua Globes I bought also, not so much.

Worth a visit
