One of these days Chris and I are going to go on a European vacation. When we go I’d want to go to England, France, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. I’m sure that if we can take a long enough vacation I’d add a few other countries to my list too!
We won’t be going for a long time, but if you are, you might be looking for Hotels in Berlin or perhaps some beautiful Hotels in Vienna? Try cheaperthanhotels.co.uk where you’ll find discount hotel room rates and you can book them right online too.
If you go to Vienna you might enjoy going on a wine tasting tour, or if you are there for New Years you should attend the Imperial Ball.
Me? I’d go on some hiking tours. I’ve learned of a hiking tour called the 7 Resort Walk in the Austrian Alps and it sounds like a lot of fun. It’d also be great exercise too. Of course I’d have my cameras on hand as I’m sure the scenery would be absolutely amazing!
I’m sure some of the Hotels in Vienna are quite old as well so there’d probably be some lovely restored hotels to stay in as well. I enjoy visiting historic sites and buildings so it would be very interesting to stay in a hotel that had some history to it as well.
I know that several people that read this blog are from Europe. What kind of activities or locations should we visit when we go to Europe some time in the distant future?

I’d skip Vienna and head to Prague. Also, if you like the outdoors, try Interlaken, in Switzerland. It’s sort of an outdoor resort city, sort of like a European Colorado Springs or something.
With France, I know Paris is the big tourist trap, but I believe the south is much nicer (Montpellier, Nice, Cannes, etc.). And Barcelona, Spain is just a short train ride from those southern cities, too! Barcelona is a must-see, just like Prague.
England is nice, but not one of my favorite places. London feels like a Euro-version of New York City, otherwise, I wasn’t that impressed. Germany has great food and great drinking. If you spend a lot of time there, I’d head down to Munich, in Bavaria, rather than stay your entire trip in Berlin or some of the northern cities.
And if you’re going to be in the Netherlands, Brussels in Belgium is a quick day-trip away, by car or train. It’s worth the trip.
I would say, most of all, make sure you get down to the Mediterranean Sea – whether in France, Spain, or Italy (especially if you love seafood). That is some beautiful country.

If you are in Berlin make sure to check out the PanAsia restaurant at the Hackesche Höfe in Prenzlauer Berg for some really nice Asia/European fusion cooking.
