As some of you know I have a very nice garden. I’ve been working on it for five years. Unfortunately I’d only seen a hummingbird once in my garden – about two years ago. Ever since then I put in more flowers that hummingbirds like and added another hummingbird feeder to the garden.
Well I finally had some success. Last Sunday I was in the kitchen with my husband when I turned towards the kitchen window and Oh Oh Oh there was a beautiful little hummingbird trying to figure out how to get a drink from the hummingbird feeder.
These aren’t the best photos since I took them so quickly through a not so clean kitchen window, but here they are:
Approaching the feeders drink station:
Ready to have a drink? Or maybe about to leave?
Do you see hummingbirds in your yard? For all I know this one’s been visiting all summer and this is just the first time I’ve been lucky enough to see it.

Lovely photos. All your patience in waiting to see the hummers paid off.

We rescued an injured hummingbird when I was a kid. He had been hit by a car. He lived with us for all of one summer, and we fed him with a medicine dropper. We had hoped he would get better and fly away. But he caught a cold towards the end of the summer and died. We buried him in a little ring box in our front yard under an oak tree. Your pictures brought back a lot of memories.

Some tips that I learned to attract more hummingbirds:
Hang more feeders away from each other and not in sight because hummingbirds are territorial and will chase others away.
Attach large red ribbons to the feeder when they are first hung to attract hummers.
