For the last few months my alarm clock has been acting up. It’s really old. I think I’ve had it since I was perhaps 14 years old. I’m amazed that it’s lasted this long actually.
Unfortunately it’s on it’s last legs. The sound/ volume knob must be full of dust inside as sometimes when I turn it all I get is this weird static sound instead of the music that the radio alarm clock is set to. So consequently, when I set my alarm it sometimes blasts music to wake me up – as it should, and other times it’s just this light static that does nothing to wake me.
Unbelievably I’ve had a hard time finding a new alarm clock that I like. I can usually set up any type of electronic equipment without a problem, but for some reason this new radio alarm clock that I got defied me. I think it was a Timex – you could set the alarm in two different time zone modes, it automatically knew when Day light savings time took effect in this part of the world, it was supposed to have an FM/AM radio, and it had a one of those built in sound machines that played 6 different types of sounds of nature.
The demo one worked in the store, but the one we purchased did nothing but alarm with a bzzzzzzzzzzzzz every morning at 6:55 am. I couldn’t change the alarm time, and I couldn’t change it to radio or natural sound mode. So back it went.
Now I’m looking for yet another alarm clock. I just want something simple with big numbers that I can see from a distance, a radio alarm and easy buttons so when I’m half asleep and decide I don’t want to get up I can turn it off easily without having to get out the instruction manual.
Why am I having so much trouble finding a simple alarm clock?

Man, I sure do miss my sound machine. I sleep so much better when I use the Rain sound, but my daugher has been crawling into bed with me since my ex left us and she cannot sleep with it on. Come to think of it, neither could me ex.
