Midnight and Molly – tug of war

Wordless Wednesday

The other weekend we took our Lab puppy to the beach for her first swim in Lake Ontario.

While we were there we met a lot of other dog owners and their dogs. We also ran into the couple that we had first met in April when we brought Midnight to Cherry Beach for the first time.

When we first met this couple and their puppy Molly both dogs were a lot smaller – yet close to the same size. As you can see from the photo above they look quite a bit a like (Midnight is on the left in the red harness) and they are almost the same size.

Trouble is … Midnight is almost four months older!

Midnight is slightly taller than Molly and she’s a little wider but otherwise it would be hard to tell the two dogs apart if it weren’t for their different colored collars.

Molly is going to be a lot bigger than Midnight soon!

How cool to meet the same couple and dog again. Looks like the dogs were having some fun together too. And so what if Molly ends up a little bigger; Midnight is a beauty.
    Have a great day!

How cool! They do look alike. We actually met the people who owned our dog’s brother, totally by chance, when we had our dog out for a walk – the kids in the family started yelling “THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE OUR DOG!” And they did look exactly alike, right down to the shapes of their bodies, the markings on their chests and paws, and their doggy smiles. The male is a little bigger and lighter in color, but on the home video we took, it’s completely impossible to tell them apart. We got our dog from a shelter, but the other family got theirs directly from the family, so it was nice to learn a little about our dog’s background (not a happy one, as we had suspected).

It’s not 100% for sure, but after seeing them together, we were all convinced of the blood ties. It was a pretty cool thing to experience.
