Why does this commercial want to make me buy a product I don’t need?

I keep seeing those commercials on TV for acne treatment creams or packages. It figures that one of the commercials hasn’t come on since I’ve been watching TV today so I can’t remember the name of the stuff .. but it’s the commercial with Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Love Hewitt in it.

I think the commercial must have subliminals in it, because every time I see it I want to buy the stuff and I don’t have acne! Isn’t that crazy?

Ok now I remember the name of the product – it’s proactiv. Have you seen that commercial? Doesn’t it make you feel like it’s the best acne treatment ever? Like I said I don’t have skin trouble – thankfully!

So why do I want to buy this stuff every time I see the commercial?

Are there any commercials that really make you want to buy a certain product – even if you don’t need it?

I know many people who have tried proactiv, and I myself have tried it, but it just doesn’t seem to work for them or me. They advertise it with these big celebrities just to make people say “Oh wow, so-and-so uses it, it must work because their skin looks great” Which makes people want to try it. I suggest anyone with acne should just go see a dermatologist, it will help you much more then what is advertised on television.
