Toad Lily

What a name for a lovely autumn flower – Toad Lily. I wonder who thought up that name?
The photo that I’ve posted today is of Toad Lily flower buds. If you ask me they’re more than a little phallic looking. I took that photo a couple of weeks ago and now the flowers are blooming.
This is what the Toad Lilies look like when they are blooming -
Aren’t they so much more lovely than their name?

What a pretty flower, and such a bad name for it. Is it from a bulb?
Happy GTS,
