Strange hangover cures

On Monday, as I came back from a doctors appointment we ran into our new and apparently temporary mailman. It turns out he’s an old acquaintance. He’s the ex-boyfriend of one of the guys that I work with in the ER.

We’ve had the two over to our house several times, but since I’ve been stuck at home sick I hadn’t seen either of them for quite a while. Talking to M about the get togethers we’d had in the past got me thinking about his ex’s strange drinking habits.

You see, B, as I’ll call him, used to enjoy drinking a concoction that was half beer and half Clamato juice! I can’t remember if I ever dared to even have a sip. Doesn’t that just sound awful!

Other than getting some extra vitamins from the Clamato juice the only benefit that I can think of to drink such a thing would be that it would make a great hang over preventer, or if you drank it the morning after a night of partying it could probably be considered one of those wild hangover cures because I’m sure all the salt in the Clamato juice must help prevent dehydration while drinking, and it’s the dehydration the morning after that usually makes you feel so awful.

I don’t tend to drink all that much these days, but if I ever do over do it, perhaps I’ll try B’s mix the day after and see if it helps.

What crazy hangover cures have you come across or tried?

Never heard of this Clamato before.

Not really into heavy drinking anyway!

As a college student, I found that drinking a 32 Oz. Gatorade (preferably Orange flavor) and taking two ibuprofen when you get home from drinking will leave you feeling much better than you would the day before. At least it worked for me.

I’ve heard the same thing Steve suggests. Something about the electrolytes in Gatorade and replacing the fluids to avoid dehydration.
I’d rather have the hangover than the Clamato Juice, although I understand the % of clam is quite low.

I thought the same thing when I first heard it, but the drink is actually not that bad. I sat on a few bar stools and sipped on a few of those with some friends while recovering from a bit too much to drink the night before in college!
